If you’re looking for inspiration or maybe want to avoid what’s being overdone, then have a look at what’s trending in the wedding world of fashion and beauty. Whatever the reason, these trends are great ideas or additions to your wedding repertoire.

    Fashion

    Wearable flowers

Greenery shouldn’t have to be reserved for your decor alone. Sure we all know about flower crowns, but what about incorporating some florals in your wedding outfit as well?

    Statement headpieces

The 2018 Met Gala’s theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, so it’s no surprise that statement headpieces are still in!

    – Sleeves

The style may not be for everyone but wedding dresses featuring statement sleeves are trending. Strapless wedding gowns just seem so boring now.

    Royal wedding inspo

Who doesn’t want to be a princess? With the recent royal weddings, it’s understandable that the regal influence has made its way to the wedding world.

    Wedding jumpsuits

Who said brides have to wear a dress? Jumpsuits are so hot right now. They can be dressed up or down as much as you’d like.

    Beauty

    Natural make-up

At the end of the day, it’s your big day and it’s your choice to go bold or not. With that said, many brides are opting for a more natural make-up look. It’s not as heavy and emphasises your natural beauty.

    Red lips

The passionate colour is in. It makes for a bold statement and really stands out well if you opt for wearing white on your wedding day.

    Sun-kissed

Keeping with the more natural make-up look, instead of going with a ‘Kardashian contour’ brides are choosing a more ‘bronzed goddess’ feel. The sun-kissed look is achieved by bronzing the high points and making use of subtle shimmer.

    Sleek hair styles

What’s great about this style is that it works for any length of hair. The sleek look will also allow your gorgeous face to stand out and be on display!

    Windswept style

If having your face on full display doesn’t appeal to you, then going with a windswept look is a great option! Some brides prefer a neat and more put-together look, but if you’re looking for that ‘they must’ve used a fan to get this shot’ kinda vibe, then opt for a windswept style.

Brides visualise the big day and walking down the aisle. One of the main elements for a bride on their wedding day is, ofcourse, the gown. Whether you’ve grown up gathering tips from celebs or looking for ideas now, here are some iconic brides and what they wore on their wedding day.

    Céline Dion

Oldie but Goodie It was in the twentieth century that women began to wear trousers as leisurewear, and eventually trousers became symbolic of female emancipation and empowerment. Bridal trousers and jumpsuits are therefore the perfect way to infuse the traditions of a wedding with more contemporary values surrounding gender equality – all while exuding an incomparable level of sophistication. You can opt for trousers that have a layer of organza or lace overlaying them to pay homage to the styles of more conventional wedding dresses. Jumpsuits are all about the beauty of the silhouette. No matter which design you choose, bridal trousers and jumpsuits always come with the added benefit of being comfortable so that you can fully enjoy every aspect of your big day.

Miles Teller and Keleigh Sperry tied the knot on September 1, 2019 in Maui. The happy couple wed in a Catholic church on the island. Even though they opted for a wedding by the beach, they decided to keep things very elegant and classic.

Miles Teller is known for his roles in The Divergent Series (2014-2016), War Dogs (2016) and will star alongside Tom Cruise in the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick (2020). He met model Keleigh Sperry in 2013 at a party for the Black Keys. The two hit it off and there was an instant connection.

A week later they went on the date, and let’s just say the rest is history. After fours years of dating, Miles popped the question in August 2017. The pair went on a romantic safari in South Africa. While enjoying their morning coffee and the wilderness, Keleigh noticed a rose attached to a tree. She decided to investigate as she thought it was weird to see a rose in the middle of winter. The flower had a note attached to it and when she started reading it, Miles finished it and got down on one knee.

Maui was the destination of choice for the love birds because it was a home away from home for Keleigh and her family. Miles joined them for family trips and fell in love with the destination. Hawaii seems to be a popular wedding spot for celebs.

Miles and Keleigh opted for a Hawaiian chic themed wedding. They worked with Unveiled Hawaii in Maui and Christine Rose Events in California to achieve their desired nuptials.

The blushing bride wore a Monique Lhuillier dress, which was elegant and tradition, while still feeling whimsy and light. The ensemble was accompanied by her mother’s necklace, which is a family heirloom.

The dashing groom wore a suit by Celine, designed by Hedi Slimane.

Wedding guests included Nina Dobrev and The Divergent Series co-star Shailene Woodley.

The reception took place on the beach with the breathtaking sunset as a backdrop. Keleigh changed into an Oscar de la Renta dress for the reception. Their entertainment included a 12-piece band that performed the couple’s favourite tunes.

Following the reception was a tropical jungle themed after-party that featured Norwegian DJ Kygo. The newlyweds partied ’till the break of dawn.

Trends are ever-changing in the wedding world. If you’re looking for inspiration or maybe want to avoid what’s being overdone, then have a look at what’s trending in the wedding world of decor and food. Whatever the reason, these trends are great ideas or additions to your wedding.

    Decor

    Coral

It’s the colour of the year! What’s more trendy than that? Trendiness aside, it really is a beautiful colour. What’s really nice is, it’s feminine without being ‘that typical’. You can use coral as your accents of colour.

    Balloon backdrops

Flower backdrops are out and balloons are in. Use it to make a statement or fun photo back-drop.

Non traditional and traditional colour palettes

Some couples tend to stick to the norm while others are making use of ‘edgy’ colour schemes.

    Royal flowers

Even though balloons are in, some couples are incorporating a little ‘royal affair’. Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding, making use of  big flower installations are in! The royal couple had a beautiful and dramatic flower-filled entrance. Ellie Goulding followed this royal trend too!

    Smoke bombs

It makes for great pictures. Remember a couple years back when the in thing was to have your guests hold sparklers as you kiss your partner and the camera goes off? Now it’s smoke bombs!

    Food

    Speciality food trucks

Food trucks have been trending in general so there’s no reason why your wedding can’t feature them either. Since they’re so popular, there’s a variety of different kinds available. From food to bars to dessert!

    Statement cakes

Couples seem to be reviving the old trend of wedding cakes as a ‘centrepiece’. Weddings are starting to feature big and bold statement wedding cakes again.

    Banquets and harvest tables

If food trucks aren’t your thing but you don’t want to stick with the norm of sit down or buffet dinners, then how about Banquets and harvest tables? They look so grand and your guests will be able to choose from a variety of dishes.

    Gin bars

Gin is in! Well, it has been for a while and it still is. So incorporating a gin bar where people can customise their cocktail is a really funky and great idea. You can have a few gin options available along with different mixers.

First of all, Islamic marriage customs depend on the country, but all couples are guided by laws and practices stated in the Quran. A husband and wife are each other’s protector and comforter, and marriage is seen as a way to maintain the religion, especially when growing your family. So what exactly happens at a traditional Muslim wedding?

    Pre-wedding

    Meher

This is a payment made by the groom to his bride-to-be. It usually consists of two parts, prompt and deferred. Nowadays, most couples regard the ring as the prompt. The deferred amount is usually a smaller sum of money, an education, land or jewellery. The money belongs to the bride and she is free to do whatever she wants with it. Meher is a sign of security between the couple.

    Wedding

    Nikah

The wedding ceremony is known as Nikah. In order to officialise the marriage, the couple only have to sign a marriage contract. The wedding can be officiated by any Muslim who is well versed with Islamic tradition. An Islamic wedding does not require an official clergy. Two people have to be present to witness the joyous union.

To express their love and free choice, the couple repeat the word ‘qabul’ three times, which means ‘I accept’ in Arabic.

Once the contract is signed, a piece of sweet fruit is shared by the happy couple.

    Fatihah and durud

The officiant usually reads the Fatihah which is the first chapter of the Quran. They speak about the meaning of marriage and the bond that the newlywed couple will share and their responsibilities to Allah and each other. It is not uncommon for a Muslim couple to not share vows. The newlyweds focus on what their officiant is saying.

    Post-wedding

    Walima

This is similar to a wedding reception. The purpose of a walima is to announce and rejoice the recent matrimony. Loved ones will gather and feast to celebrate the newlyweds.

It’s important to note that many wedding traditions vary as a result of the different regions. So some practices may not be the same all over.

After tying the knot, the reception usually follows, filled with celebration, fun and lots of dancing. However, planning a proper party requires a lot of thought. With all the details, make sure you don’t overlook your wedding playlist, because let’s face it, the music makes the party. Here’s how to plan your wedding playlist:

    DJ or band or DIY

This one is pretty simple. Pick between hiring a DJ, a live band or creating your own playlist and just letting it play.

    Plan

As with everything, planning is your best friend. Sorting out your playlist well in advance will not only put your mind at ease but also ensure that the end product is perfect.

    Theme

Ask yourself: What is the vibe going to be like at your wedding? This will help determine what music and genres you should or shouldn’t play.

    The happy couple’s big day

You and your partner should make a list of songs that you definitely want played at your reception. The ‘must-haves’, even if they only please you and your partner.

    A time and a place

Plan your playlist according to the happenings of your reception. For example, you wouldn’t play hype or dance music when the speeches are happening. Customise the playlist to your reception schedule.

    Mix it up

Even though it’s your big day, it’s important to cater for everyone. A great idea is to play something for everyone. Mix in some old and new school, as well as some classics.

    Special requests

If you really want to make your guests happy, you can ask them to make suggestions beforehand then incorporate it into the playlist where appropriate.

    Review

Listen to your hard work! As you listen to all your songs, picture your reception. Run through the order of the evening and imagine what it’s going to look and sound like.

Long-sleeved wedding dresses are no longer considered conservative but are a fashionable addition to any wedding dress. Brides are able to incorporate different fabrics and styles within the sleeves and will also be kept somewhat warm if they are having a winter wedding.

Here are some of the latest long-sleeved wedding dresses that are available locally:

    Timeless Bridal Couture

A detailed lace bodice that extends to the sleeves.

    Elbeth Gillis

A simple and elegant long sleeve dress with button detail.

    Cindy Bam

A long-sleeved lace bodice paired with a simple skirt for a simple and classic look.

    Chanelle Cindy Bridal

An embellished long-sleeved bodice for that wow-factor.

    Veil Bridal Couture

A body-hugging simple full length sleeved dress with lace detail.

    Bo and Luca

    Hand-embroidered and featuring balloon sleeves.

    Vonvé Bridal Couture

An off-the-shoulder long sleeve with an intricate lace design.

    Olivelli

A simple dress with lace sleeves for a classic and feminine look.

    Feature Image: Visual Poetry Photography

All eyes don’t have to be on the bride only – the groom can turn a few heads too! But how do you bring that same ‘wow’ factor with something as simple as a suit and tie? Here’s how to ensure that you and your mates are looking dapper on the big day.

    Classic

A classic black suit and tie paired with a crisp white shirt is a definite crowd-pleaser.

    Grey

Grey is a great option as it’s available in many variations. Try and pick a shade of grey that will suit your venue and colour scheme. For example, if it’s a beach or rustic wedding you’d usually opt for a light shade of grey.

    Blue

It’s a great colour that suits all skin tones. It’s simple enough to be timeless, but a bit more daring than the classic black and white.

Ellie Goulding and Caspar Jopling wed on August 31, 2019. The wedding took place at the York Minster Cathedral in England. Whether it was the star-studded wedding guest list or the hoards of fans that lined the streets, it’s no surprise that the lavish nuptials are being mistaken for a royal affair.

Fans speculate that the couple met through their mutual friend, Princess Eugenie. The English singer-songwriter has been engaged to the art dealer since August 2018. Caspar announced the engagement on Instagram.

Ellie opted for a gothic style wedding gown which was a custom-made Chloé piece. The dress was hand embroidered and featured glass beads, white roses and took a total of 640 hours to make. The bridesmaids all wore beautiful white gowns.

Do you really need wedding insurance? Wedding insurance, simply put, is the insuring of your big day. It can be anything from the venue to any cancellations. You may be questioning the necessity of this but when you’re spending thousands and thousands on your nuptials it may be a good investment.

As much as you shouldn’t be negative about things, it’s also vital to take precautions. Would you purchase a phone or a car and not obtain insurance? So if you’re spending more than what you’d pay for a phone – and in some cases – a car then why wouldn’t you insure your big day?

Wedding insurance can be tailored to suit any couples needs. Various companies also have different packages available that cover a few too many things.

Consider a few things before making your final decision:
    – How much are you spending on your wedding?

If you’re opting for a micro wedding then maybe you don’t need insurance since you’re not spending too much.

    – How far in advance are you planning?

Insurance may be a good option if you’re planning a year in advance since it’s hard to know if anything may happen. Whereas situations are less likely to change in a month or two.

    – How long have you saved for your big day?

If you’ve been saving for a long time you might want to invest in insurance. You wouldn’t want to lose your hard-earned money. If money isn’t an issue for you, then maybe not.

    – Anything can happen (unfortunately)

Sadly no one knows what the future hold. There may be a death in the family or (touch wood) your partner. It’s not nice to talk about but it should be noted. Death aside, there may be damage done to your venue, a result of a guest who had a bit too much to drink or perhaps an innocent mistake.

Keep the above-mentioned in mind. Remember to talk to your wedding planner and vendors as some of them may be covered. Even if so it’ll never be full coverage for the full wedding.
