If a wedding you were supposed to attend has been cancelled, you can still celebrate from afar. A social distanced celebration is the new norm and these gifts are a thoughtful token.

1. Flowers

Yes it’s generic but a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a bonsai tree or an array of succulents will add a pop of colour to home of the soon-to-be married couple. It will also serve as a daily reminder that you are thinking of them. NetFlorist has ample plants to choose from and they do delivery so you don’t have to.

2. A box of delicious treats

Granadilla Eats is your one-stop online shop for sustainably sourced food. You can help support a small business and farmer while sending your friends a delicious box of goodies. 3. A box of booze

Yuppie Chef offers boxes of premium wines that can be delivered to the future Mrs and Mr. It’ll be a delicious addition to their collection and is a really great gift, who doesn’t love wine? They could even keep a bottle aside until their wedding day which can be shared between you and them, making for a special and sentimental moment.

4. A couples spa voucher

Lots of spas around the country are offering specials on spa treatments, you just need to do some digging. A couples massage would be a dream of a present and allow the couple to really chill out.

5. A gift from their registry

This may not be the most original idea but a gift from the couple’s wedding registry is sure to go down well. There is safety in this option as you know that whatever gift you choose, the couple wants it and will be happy.

Flowers are stunning, but they’re also a bit expected for a wedding day. Why not swop them out for some adorable puppies instead?

Puppy bouquets are a great alternative that offers more than just a few extra cute wedding guests. Couples work with animal shelters and rescues to showcase the sweet pups at their weddings in the hopes that someone in the crowd will adopt them. This way, you help dogs in need find their forever home.

If you love this idea and would like to include it in your big day, there are a few things to keep in mind. The health and safety of the dogs must be a top priority, so it is important you have structures in place to protect them.

Before bringing the dogs, make sure a welfare check has been conducted. Things to consider are whether they are old enough to be taken away from their mother, whether they have been vaccinated, and whether any of them have any injuries or anxieties that may affect them being outside.

These puppies are not toys, and not meant to be held throughout the ceremony. Instead of carrying them down the aisle, the bridal party can simply swop out their floral bouquets for the pups during the official wedding photoshoot. This limits the time they have to be held down.

For the photoshoot, make sure to brief your party on the proper way to hold a dog as those without pets may to be familiar how to do it.

It’s also important to be considerate of loud noises. If you plan on having dogs present, a fireworks display is a really bad idea as it can make them very nervous and scared. Loud music, horns or just the general traffic of a busy wedding can all contribute to their anxiety.

Having a safe space where the pups can rest, away from the guests will also be really helpful.

Great television can make us laugh, and it can make us cry. It makes us feel like we’re friends with fictional characters, encouraging us to celebrate the milestones in their lives.

Wedding episodes are always special as we see our favourite on-screen couples take the next step in their relationship. Over the years, there have been some truly iconic fashion moments on the silver screen.

Here are a few of the most memorable wedding dresses in television history.

Christina Yang – Greys Anatomy

Never one to follow the rules, Dr. Christina Yang ignored tradition and went for a deep-red dress to marry Dr. Owen Hunt. She even hosted the ceremony right in her living room.

Margaery Tyrel – Game of Thrones

While this wedding day was slightly eclipsed by the long awaited murder of King Jeoffrey, we have to shine a light on Queen Margaery’s gown. For her second (and not final) wedding, Margery wore a gown made of linen silk featuring woven leaves and hand rolled and stitched roses cascading down the back of the skirt. The roses honoured the Tryel family sigil.

Liz Lemon – 30 Rock

Liz Lemon’s wedding was just as quirky as her personality. After deciding to get married on a whim to be more attractive to adoption agencies, Liz took the concept of a princess gown quite literally. She wore a replica of Princess Leia’s wedding dress from Star Wars to marry Jack.

Cece – New Girl

After a few to many glasses of bubbly, Cece and pal Winston bought a dress their crew deemed the ugliest wedding gown in existence. Best friend Jess turned the dress inside out and transformed it into a stunning gown draped in gold lace. Her shawl had a red lace trim in honour of her Indian culture.

Leslie Knope – Parks and Recreation

As one of the most sentimental characters to ever grace the small screen, Leslie Knope’s wedding dress was never going to be dull. Her homemade knee-length dress was decorated with newspaper clippings from all the times Leslie had been written about for her accomplishments. The skirt also featured campaign flyers and portraits of her role models like Michelle Obama and Madeleine Albright.

The world is mourning the loss of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, who inspired a generation as the first black Superhero. Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 and fought through his illness to star in a host of  box office hits.

A few months before his passing, Boseman and his longtime girlfriend Taylor Simone Ledward secretly tied the knot.

The pair have been together since 2015. Ledward is a music industry studies graduate from California State Polytechnic University. She has been by his side ever since. In October 2019, they reportedly became engaged and were rumoured to marry in early 2020.

While there is no news on when exactly they tied the knot, their marriage was confirmed during the announcement of Boseman’s death.

“It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman,” the statement read. “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016 and battled with it these last four years as it progressed to stage IV. A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.”

The Pont des Arts in Paris is commonly known by it’s other name, the Love Lock Bridge. People from around the world have flocked to this site to immortalise their love for their partner by clipping a padlock on the railing and throwing the key into the Seine river below.

Love lock bridges are not exclusive to Paris but are found around the globe. According to City Wonders, the first love lock bridge was actually in Hungary.

The urban legend of how the concept of love lock bridges started dates back to World War 1. The story goes that a woman who lost her love during the war began placing padlocks on the bridges where they would meet. The locks were symbolic of her unbreakable love.

In Paris, people had been placing padlocks on the Pont des Arts since 2008. Unfortunately though, the weight of all the locks began causing structural damage to the bridge. By 2015, city officials removed all the locks from the bridge to prevent the bridge from collapsing.

Paris has also put an official ban on placing locks on bridges. Of course this hasn’t really stopped people from doing it anyway.

Docu-series Indian Matchmaking, premiered on Netflix and immediately captured viewers attention. From picky participants to Auntie Sima, the matchmaker, the show is non-stop entertainment.

Although it was intended to be a look into the world of matchmaking in the India and among Indians in the diaspora, the show much like other reality series, had people in stitches and rooting for different characters.

Here are our best moments from the show.

1.When Aparna complains about everything

No doubt cast as the villain of the show Aparna is really hard to please. There is almost nothing Aparna can’t complain about or find something wrong with. From “hating comedy” to her job, the list of what she hates is longer than what she likes (which pretty much only includes travel).

2. Auntie Sima’s stars in alignment

One of the most meme’d moments of the series is when Auntie Sima says that her work is worthless unless the “stars are aligned”, oh how we wish we could all use that excuse when we fail.

3. Pradhyuman’s terrible small talk

Pradhyuman is a constantly terrible date throughout the show. The spoilt rich boy is either saying cringe-worthy pick-up lines, being outright rude or carrying on terrible conversation. His peak has to be when he asked Rushali what kind of animals she liked, “Mammals, or like sea life?” absolutely ended audiences.

4. Everything Pandit Dilip Bhatt

This astronomers guidance for Auntie Sima is always hilarious. From talking about sex lives to a very uncomfortable Sima to saying “Lord Jupiter is now driving your bus”, Pandit Ji always came out with something a bit crazy. Often though, he was pretty spot on about these daters.

5. Aparna’s Goat date

Aparna hates everything and she surprisingly didn’t hate this. Calling it “relaxing” her face told a different story as she squirmed with the little goat sitting on her mat. While this bizarre take on yoga is an acquired taste, we were not shocked that Aparna couldn’t handle it.

7. Aunti Sima not knowing what dogs are

This was ridiculous. When walking around Aparna’s house, Auntie Sima sees two paintings of what are clearly dogs on her wall. Without missing a beat she says “You have put these pictures of these kittens.” The internet went mad for this, and Aparna nicely corrected her.

8. Ashkay’s stressful mother

Oh where to start with Ashkay’s mother. The man was already looking for someone exactly like her and this hectic mom was totally in agreement. From wanting the girl to be “flexible” to needing her son and this woman to get married so his older brother can have children, Preeti’s demands were pretty high.

They say rain is a good omen on your wedding day, but what about lightning? This couple was surprised when the bolt of electricity flashed during their wedding ceremony.

Aaron Sawitsky and Denice McClure recently tied the knot in front of a small group in Massacheussets, USA.

As the groom was reading his written vows, guests were treated to a show. During his speech, Sawitsky says: “Let’s face it, 2020 has not been the best year.” Right on cue, Mother Nature cracks her whip and strikes lightning down right behind the wedding altar, as if in warning.

“Mother nature has one wry sense of humor,” Sawitsky wrote on Instagram. “Thankfully no one got electrocuted and we finished our vows before the rain started!”

Watch it happen:

Since the video was posted, it has gone viral. Many expressed what a memorable moment it is.

“Now, this is one of the wedding no one forget. Congratulations to you guys and I hope that the remaining part of 2020 is good for all of us,” commented one person.
