Sometimes, you just have to be in the right place at the right time. This couple learned this fact in an interesting way when they met…at the woman’s wedding to her first husband.

Natalie Perry, 37, met waiter Fred Kasa, 36, during her wedding reception in Crete. Kasa was one of the waiters at the restaurant, and there are are even pictures of them dancing the traditional Zorba dance side by side!

Flash forward five years, Perry returned to the same restaurant after splitting from her husband. It was here that she and Kasa connected again.

“That night the Greek dancer was watching me – I could feel his eyes,” she told Metro UK. “I went to the toilet to wash my hands and he came up to me and we started chatting. He asked me out for a coffee the next day. We just had this connection and we clicked right away. I recognised him immediately from before, I knew it was him.”

They soon began a long-distance relationship. In 2017, Kasa moved to the UK so they could be together and they became engaged within 6 months.

The pair tied the knot in February, and plan on honeymooning in Crete when travel is allowed again.

“I cant believe still that my husband danced with me at both my weddings!” Natalie told Metro UK. “It’s funny how life can turn out – you just don’t know what’ll pan out.”

“I knew she was the one I wanted to marry,” said Kasa. “The feeling was crazy. I had never been so in love with anyone. Every day I missed her more. Now she is my wife, I am just so happy and we are so happy together. To think I danced with her at her first wedding and then we had a dance at our own wedding is crazy!”

With the current lockdown in place in South Africa to stop the spread of coronavirus, weddings aren’t the big events we know them to be.  As large gatherings are banned,  Cape Town film-maker Dan Mace got crafty to make sure the seats at their backyard wedding were still filled without breaking any lockdown rules.

Mace and his fiancée, Gabrielle Esterhuizen, had planned on tying the knot but their wedding was unfortunately cancelled amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Shortly after, Mace contracted COVID-19, meaning the pair had to stay shut inside for weeks as he battled the symptoms. After making a full recovery, Dan still wanted to go through with their wedding, albeit it on a much smaller scale.

He devised a sweet plan to surprise Esterhuizen with an impromptu wedding in their backyard. He made rings out of guitar strings, built an altar and spent all night creating cardboard cutouts of “guests” to witness their wedding. In the morning, he surprised his love.

We spoke to the couple about their wedding that was cancelled and how the ingenious backyard celebration came about.

“Our wedding was planned for 21st March, the same day we found out Dans test result. We were looking forward to our afternoon wedding in Stellenbosch. I think the most special thing was having a day we could share just the 2 of us, we know the bride and groom are usually busy the night so to be able to share this day was incredible. Just to celebrate with all our family and friends in one space,” said Esterhuizen.

Mace explained to us how his idea came about.

“I think the idea came from something that I probably would have chosen to keep more personal between Gabs and I.

“But the reason I decided to create a film about is because the world needs positivity right now and I really wanted to share a positive story about two people in love. It’s something that is relatable.

“With the right idea you can still create the same sensation as a big wedding with lots of people all around. With some creativity and thinking outside the box you can do something that is even more special than a generic wedding. Through utilising creativity and restriction you can make something really awesome.”

Mace continued, “I wanted to showcase ways to be creative during lockdown and I think it combined itself with the question I asked Gabs on camera about how she felt about postponing the wedding. I hadn’t asked her that before and had assumed that it made her bummed. Once I heard her say it though I knew I had to do something about it.”

The 21-day lockdown in South Africa to curb the spread of coronavirus has effectively brought social gatherings of any kind to a halt during this time. However, some people don’t take the lockdown seriously and continue to go about life as normal.

A couple in Nseleni, KwaZulu-Natal decided that their wedding day would still go forward, despite the government banning unnecessary social gatherings.

According to SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Vish Naidoo, about 50 people gathered to witness the big day. The police received a tip-off that the wedding was happening and showed up to break it up.

The bridal couple were caught red-handed and in a video, they can be seen getting into the back of a police vehicle.

Naidoo says the couple have contravened the Disaster Management Act, and everyone that was present will be questioned.

“People are still taking chances, not realising the seriousness of this virus,”  Naidoo said.

“The prosecutor will guide us on exactly which charges will be preferred against them. I don’t think we can be expecting any explanation from them at this point in time unless we have spoken to the senior prosecutor.”

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell said ‘I do’ in a private ceremony at the Australia Zoo on March 25, attended only by her mother, brother and Steve’s best man. While their big day featured a special tribute to her late father, Steve Irwin, there was another special tribute to her mother, Terri.

Bindi Irwin’s wedding dress was designed to mimic the one her mother wore to marry Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin.

“I wanted something very similar because I’ve admired [my mom’s] dress since I was tiny,” Bindi told People Magazine. “When I was about 12 years old, I put on mum’s wedding dress and it was a really, really special… it’s over 50 years old because it’s been in the family for that long.”

As the original dress did not fit her and was too old to be altered, the next best solution was to have a new one designed in its image.

The second she saw the dress, Bindi knew it was the one.

“It was just perfect, I said, ‘Oh my goodness, that’s the dress,’ and we all started crying again.”

The dresses sunflower lace print sleeves also reminded Bindi of her father.

“When we would go on projects and drives together, we’d often drive through these huge sunflower fields in the middle of nowhere and we always stopped to take them in,” she explains. “[The dress] was really special and beautiful.”

The birth of your first child is a pretty special moment, what could possibly make it better? Well, how about a marriage proposal? That was this new dad’s exact thinking when he decided to involve their newborn baby in his adorable proposal.

Scott Gretton and Rachel Taylor from Hartlepool in England welcomed baby boy Oscar into the world on Tuesday, March 31 after a gruelling 25-hour labour.

While Scott was there for the birth, he was not allowed to stay due to strict COVID-19 measures in place. He returned the next day and secretly plotted with the midwives to dress baby Oscar in a custom-made babygrow that read, “Mammy, will you marry my daddy?”

Speaking to the Hartlepool Mail, Scott explained, “I have discussed with Rachel about proposing before – I’d bought a ring a couple of weeks ago and got two yeses from her family so I was ready.

“I’m not sure she expected me to ask the question while she was still in the delivery unit though!

“Luckily it all worked out – she saw the message and said yes!”

“I’m so grateful to all of the maternity team. The care was second to none and the midwives were so helpful setting up the big surprise.”

We tune in week after week, episode after episode to follow the lives of fictional characters, so it’s natural that we would develop some feelings toward them. Living in the golden age of television, there are so many iconic, memorable tv couples giving us absolute couple goals.

Here are a few of our favourite smallscreen couples:

Fran Fine and Mr. Sheffield – The Nanny

From the beginning, the chemistry between nanny Fran and Mr. Sheffield was undeniable. Fans waited with baited breath for the pair to realise they were madly in love with each other and it was worth every second when they finally got together in the sixth season.

Jim and Pam – The Office

Although it took them ages, once Jim and Pam stopped pining for each other across the office and finally got together, it’s fair to say every viewer breathed a sigh of relief. Jim and Pam’s relationship started off a friendship, and they continued that mutual respect for each other throughout.

Ben and Leslie – Parks and Recreation

With her infective positivity and bright exuberance, who would have thought Leslie Knope could get any happier? Ben made her shine even brighter, always supporting her goals. We love how their relationship subtly reversed gender norms and avoided drama tropes.

Dre and Rainbow – Blackish

This pair are somehow able to handle anything that comes their way, and often come out of situations stronger. We love that their ridiculous, sometimes camp relationship still feels real and authentic, and we especially love how they address societal issues and embrace different viewpoints.

Bob and Linda – Bob’s Burgers

Happy-go-lucky and excitable Linda seems to be the polar oppopsite of square, dependable Bob, but that’s what makes this animated couple so special. They bring out the best in each other, and somehow keep their incredibly quirky yet lovable family together.

Kurt and Blaine – Glee

The original teenage dream, Kurt and Blaine had Gleeks the world over clutching their chests whenever they sang together. Besides representing LBGTQIA+ love equally and on mainstream television, this couple were eternally supportive of each other’s goals.

Glenn and Maggie – The Walking Dead

The zombie apocolypse seems like a bad time to start a relationship, but somehow Glenn and Maggie make it work. Fan-favourites ever since they got together, this pair gave viewers happiness amongst the grimness of the zombie storyline.

Beth and Randall – This is Us

Beth and Randall seem to be the strongest couple on This Is Us. The pair constantly support each other, even when they don’t agree with what the other wants. Despite having rocky moments, they always end up on top and remain committed to each other as well as being present, positive parents.
