While the shape of the diamond is often the key focus in an engagement ring, the setting is just as important. How your ring is set can make or break it, so it is best to choose wisely.

A less popular yet still stylish choice is the tension setting. This unique setting has the central stone floating in between two metal bands that hold it securely, and is an unusual look for the unique bride.

The tension setting is designed in a way that the diamond is tightly held in place by the pressure of the metal bands on either side. Usually, there are two tiny grooves carved into the metal where the diamond’s girdle comes into contact with it to keep the stone in place. This setting allows the diamond to appear to be floating between the two sides of the shank, which creates a mesmerising appearance.

Along with the floating appearnace, the entire profile of the diamond is on show with this setting. Thus, the diamond is more visible than with other settings. The minimal metal surrounding the diamond further enhances its light reflection, making it appear more radiant.

Another benefit to this setting is that is much less maintenance than other diamond setting types, like the prong setting for example.

However, it is important to note that this tension only works for hard stones like diamonds, rubies and sapphires. The stone must also be of very high quality, as any imperfections will be made even more visible through this setting. It is also an extremely specialised skill to make this setting, so jewellers charge a pretty penny for it.

Another downside to this setting is that it is difficult to resize, and having this done can actually increase the chances of the stone coming loose.

With the diamond being so exposed in this setting, it is not ideal for those that lead an active lifestyle.

This setting is the perfect choice for those desiring a more modern and minimalist finish for their engagement ring. It is an unusual look that is sure to stand out from the rest.

John Cena is a married man! The former wrestler turned actor recently said ‘I do’ to project manager Shay Shariatzadeh in a secret ceremony.

The couple tied the knot on Tuesday, October 13 in Tampa, Florida, according to court documents.

Cena and Shariatzadeh have been linked since March 2019 when they were spotted on a date. It is unknown when the pair got engaged, but reports show they applied for a marriage licence in October.

Speaking about love, Cena said the key to a succesful relationship is in appreciating one another.

“If I have a connection with someone, I believe we’re defined by our actions, and how you treat them is a reflection on how you will treat them in the future,” he said. “I think when anyone has a connection with someone, and someone says like, ‘Hey, there’s something here, and by the way, I appreciate who you are, I appreciate who you want to be, I appreciate how you live your life.’

This is Cena’s second marriage and third engagement. He was previously married to Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009 to 2012, and was engaged to fellow wrestler Nikki Bella from 2017 to 2018.

Popular wedding dress line David’s Bridal is taking their business into the digital realm. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the fashion line is offering a new technology that allows brides to view dresses in 3-D and augmented reality.

Davis’s Bridal is on a mission to modernise and streamline the shopping experience. Their online sales have been booming amid the pandemic, and their numbers may improve even further thanks to its newest innovation.

Working with 3-D and augmented reality firm Vertebrae, David’s has expanded its online platform to allow brides to view 52 dress styles using 3-D or augmented reality.

All a customer has to do is select a specific dress on the app while on their phone, and a 3-D rendering of a mannequin wearing the dress will appear. Customers can then angle their phone and walk around to get a full 360-degree view of the dress. Instead of zooming in, all you have to do is walk up to the dress to get a closer look at the details.

“The goal is how can we meet the customer where they’re at right now, which is in their home,” said Lizzy Ellingson, chief digital experience officer at David’s. “It’s about getting the customer to be able to see the details of a dress and the intricacies of a dress, which she might not have been able to see if she’s not going into a store.”

The summer season is light, bright and airy. Instead of attracting more heat, reflect the sun’s rays with a sweet pastel suit.

Grooms tend to play it safe with their wedding suits, opting for the traditional black or navy suit. While this is a tried-and-tested success, it’s also a bit boring. If you want to take things to the next level, go bold with a colourful suit.

Pastel shades are great because they aren’t as in your face as a primary colour. It’s a fun way to inject personality into your outfit, and these shades tend to complement garden weddings very well.

Here are some men looking perfect in pastels:

Wedding goers in Zambia were treated to an unexpected show when a woman stormed into a church with children in tow and interrupted the ceremony. She demanded the wedding be stopped because the groom was her husband.

The groom, Abraham Muyunda, is married to Caroline Mubita and they share three children. Muyunda had allegedly told his wife that he was going to town for work, but in reality, he was attending his own wedding at a Catholic church in Chainda, Lusaka.

Mubita had been told by neighbours that her husband was to marry another woman, causing her to rush to interrupt the ceremony.

In a video, Mubita storms into the church with a child strapped to her back, and can be heard saying, “The wedding cannot go on. This man right here is my husband. I don’t know what is happening here.”

The groom has since been handed over to the police and may face a criminal charge of bigamy, which is illegal in Zambia. The crime could carry a sentence of up to seven years, under Zambian law.

This story takes ghosting to the next level. A British woman claims she was engaged to a ghost but has now called off the wedding because he “kept disappearing”.

Speaking during the UK TV show This Morning, Amethyst Realm(32) explained that she had fallen in love with a spirit named Ray while on a trip to Australia in 2018. The pair got engaged on their nine-month anniversary and it seemed the relationship was going from strength to strength until a recent vacation to Thailand.

“I think maybe he fell in with a bad crowd when we were on holiday. He just started becoming really inconsiderate,” Realm explained on the TV show. “I think he started doing drugs and partying a bit much.

“He’d disappear for long periods of time. When he did come back, he’d bring other spirits to the house and they’d just stay around for days,” she said.

The pair have since decided to call the wedding off.

The realm is infamous in the UK, known for her claim that she has slept with at least 20 ghosts before getting engaged to Ray.

Stephan Claasen (53) proposed to his love Noleen Gysman (52), a manager at Clicks, with an audience of shoppers cheering them on.

The video of their special moment was shared to Facebook, and has been viewed over 150 000 times.

The pair have allegedly been together since June, but have a long history as they dated 35 years ago when they lived in Outshoorn. According to IOL, a mutual friend brought them back together in February 2020, and the rest is history.

Congratulations to the happy couple!

While big anniversaries like the first, five, and tenth year tend to be celebrated the most, every year of marriage is special in itself and deserves to be honoured.

Every year of your marriage holds new significance, with a particular symbol to represent it. The traditional wedding gift for the second year of marriage is cotton, meant to symbolise the strength and flexibility of your union. The modern-day wedding gift is often centred on fragile china. Fragile and easily broke, fine china symbolises the delicate nature of marriage and the importance of caring for it carefully.

While there is no need to go big on your wedding anniversary, there are many ways to incorporate the symbols into a wedding gift. Regardless of your budget, these cotton-related ideas are perfect to match the symbolism of the second year.

– Matching bathrobes

– Luxurious bed sheets

– A printed canvas of your written wedding vows

– Cotton pajamas

– Cotton chef’s apron

– Monogrammed throw blanket

– A hammock for two
