Clare said that it was love at first sight for her, she knew that Dale was her future husband “the moment he walked into the show.”

“After the first night, and I even said it the first time I knew it was special, but after we had our first group date, in my mind and in my heart, everything was already written,” Dale said in an interview with, Good morning America.

With just four episodes in, Clare had already made up her mind on who she was going to pick and for her entertaining other possible suitors was a complete waste of time. This led to her receiving backlash on social media for being unfair to others and the viewers.

Clare is no stranger to the show. She first turned up on ‘The Bachelor’ in 2014, when she competed for the affection of bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis and turned into a Bachelor Nation legend. This time, however, it worked out for the best.

With a million things to decide on, from cakes, decor, and venue amongst others, making the decision whether to hire a wedding planner or to do everything yourself is a tricky decision.

The logistics can take away from the thrill of enjoying your big day. It’s no wonder so many choose to hire a wedding planner to plan their big day so they can focus on the fun.

While wedding planners are more experienced and flexible, those who want 100% control will probably be better doing doing it themselves.

If you enjoy planning and doing things yourself then, by all means, you should plan your wedding. This can also be another way to save money because it will cost you less than having to pay a professional.

Here are the pros and cons of hiring a planner.

    The Pros

    – Your wedding will have an expert look to give it the extra flair and beauty

    – You will not worry about things going wrong, because that is not your responsibility

    – Pros already know who to call and for what  to make your big day amazing

    – Your budget gets a professional eye and you will get a fresh perspective of ideas

    The Cons

    – You will lose some control over the planning of your own wedding

    – You will spend more money paying a professional than you would if you were doing it yourself

    – You may have a difficult time trusting someone with every detail, and have disagreements from time to time

Diogo Rabelo, a 33-year-old doctor, married himself in a sologomous ceremony at a luxurious resort in Itacare, in the north-eastern state of Bahia, Brazil on October 17. The decision to marry himself followed after his fiance broke up with him over a series of arguments over the summer.

The couple was meant to get married in September but broke up in July. Instead of calling off the whole thing, Rabelo decided to got through with the big day and marry himself. The wedding cost him around 350,000 BRL (R977 989) and 40 of the people who were initially invited attended. Not surprisingly, the ex’s friends and family did not show up.

The reason behind tying the knot on his own was that he wants to send a message to people that you do not need to depend on a marriage to be happy.

Rabelo explains: “Today is one of the happiest days of my life, as I’m with the people I love the most in this life, celebrating what could be a tragedy, but I made it a comedy.”

“I do want to marry someone else, and I want to have children, but my happiness cannot depend on that,” he added.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic started, the general public and couples had to change how they traditionally did things.  How weddings are celebrated have also changed, forcing many to get creative with how they say ‘I do’.

If you are not scared of heights but also wants to maintain extreme social distancing, then saying your vows in the sky could be an idea.

Air Charter Service is offering a “Wedding in the Sky” package for couples who can afford to socially distance in the clouds. The two-hour sky-high experience takes place at 30 000 feet and includes an airport chauffeur to drive the newlyweds to and from their choice of airport.

The package will also include champagne, personalized wedding favours, canapés, a cabin crew member officiant, flower arrangements, and catered food and drink aboard a plane that seats up to 16 people.

One of the nicest things about this adventure is that your route can be planned and you can say “I do” while flying over your preferred route.

The whole thing will cost you $28,000 (R443 286) but if you have a smaller budget, there is an offer for you at $18,000 (R284 969) but you need to bear in mind that the perks will not be the same because its one is for a couple that wants to elope.

Scottish couple Melissa Russell, 27, and Shannon McKenna, 26, have been together for six years, and getting married was not part of their plans. However, like many couples this year, the COVID-19 pandemic made them realise that they want to spend the rest of their lives together.

Melissa and Shannon had hoped for a marquee in their garden for the wedding and a few nights away at a hotel.

Melissa, who is an employee at McDonald’s, spoke to her boss about her frustrations of planning a wedding during a pandemic. Her employer, Kate, then pulled out all the stops to give them a dream wedding reception in the fast-food restaurant.

The two were legally married by a humanist celebrant in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, and then went to celebrate the rest of the day at the McDonald’s Melissa works at.

On the menu for the newlyweds was a three-course meal containing Mozzarella Dippers or Chicken Selects for starters, anything on the menu for the main course and ice cream was served in crystal glasses, or apple pie and ice cream.

The couple were over the moon and so emotional about the whole thing,

“It was an absolutely fabulous day. Kate is such a lovely, helpful person and she went above and beyond, she did so many things we didn’t expect, she got the tables decorated,” said Melissa.

The newlyweds then spent a night in Loch Lomond for a brief honeymoon, before returning home.

On Saturday, October 31 Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that they will be going to another hard lockdown that will last four weeks in preparation for Christmas and to reduce the number of rapidly growing infections.

Couple Jo Loosemore, 33, and Matthew Goffin, 37 were meant to get married on November 14. Instead, they married 24 hours after the announcement.

Matthew said that they already had a set date, venue, and 200 guests as part of their plans for their wedding day. The ceremony was going to take place in  Devon but because of the impromptu decision to get married a day after the announcement, they got married at Church of St Martin in Witcham, Cambridgeshire instead.

Initially, the venue in Devon was chosen because of the proximity to Jo’s parents but the change forced them to get married where they lived with their son.

Jo said: “I was having a shower on Saturday morning and I heard about the news coming out so I just thought, ‘Well I’ll see if we can get it done this weekend”

The couple ran around trying to get everything ready for their new wedding date, they posted an appeal on their village’s Facebook page, which led to offers from musicians, with friends and family also helping them and they had a beautiful ceremony.

Taiwan has set the precedent for Asia to grow the gay rights movement. The city became the first place in the region to allow same-sex marriage in May 2019 after a political fight.

Since the Taiwanese government made same-sex marriages legal, over 4000 couples have registered their marriages. Among them were two Taiwanese female soldiers and their civilian same-sex partners, who joined close to 200 couples who walked in the army base in northern Taoyuan county before exchanging vows at an outdoor ceremony.

This is a first for the island’s armed forces, which regularly hosts mass weddings for staff.

During their big day, Lieutenant Chen Ying-hsuan addressed the masses and said that was another big step forward for the military.

“I hope more same-sex couples can bravely stand out. The military is open and we are all equal in front of love,” she told reporters.

“Our love is no different than any heterosexual couple,” added her partner,  Li Li-chen. “We are here today in the hope that more same-sex couples will join the next (mass wedding).”

Major Wang Yiand her partner Yumi Meng waved rainbow flags as they posed for photos with family in front of an armoured vehicle. The military same-sex wedding gained traction on social media when were posted on the army’s Facebook page earlier this week.

A lot of people were happy about this and sent positive congratulatory messages.

The island will hold its annual gay pride march on Saturday, with large crowds expected in one of the few places that have managed to successfully defeat the coronavirus pandemic.

After getting engaged, you already know that the next step is getting married and that includes the wedding and its planning. Your date can be chosen based on a number of things like a season, a location, family members, or a special date. However, if you have always dreamt of a specific destination or venue, then your wedding date might depend on the availability of the place.

    Specific special dates

Many wedding dates are related to a special day, like each other’s birthday, the day that you met, your favourite restaurant, or the day you got engaged. When you want a specific date, start planning as soon as possible and call venues and vendors you want to hire. Most wedding venues can be booked a year in advance.  You will have peace of mind knowing that you have secured the venue but you need to have a plan B just in case something unforeseen happens.

    Choose the season

Start by thinking about your favourite times of the year. Is there is a month or season that you would like to get married in? It is also very important to understand that the time of the year can affect your venue, wedding colours, and theme. Consider the weather, holidays, and commitments you have each month before you choose to host the wedding then.

    Indoors or outdoors

When you are going to choose to have a wedding outdoors it is important to consider the season because as a person, you don’t know what the weather will look like. For the bride, think about the type of gown that would be comfortable for the venue, a short-sleeved gown will probably not work for a beach wedding in winter. Research the weather conditions in the location you are planning on getting married in and ask your wedding planner.

    Think budget

There are months that are cheaper than others, people buy winter clothes in summer and vice versa. If you are working with a budget then this might be the idea you take and run with. April, September, and December are some of the most popular marriage months, so prices are inevitably higher. You will most like to pay high prices for everything, from venues to decor. Pick an off-peak month, where you’re more likely to get discounted prices and a better selection of venues.
