The coronavirus outbreak has caused many industries to come to a standstill. In the wedding industry, vendors like photographers, musicians and caterers rely on some form of face-to-face contact to carry out their jobs.

As many put their lives on hold, others are getting creative to maintain a sense of normalcy, like photographer Lex Alinsod from the Phillipines.

Although this wedding photographer couldn’t perform his job as normal, he found an inventive loophole to still do what she loves.

Alinsod shot an engagement photoshoot over FaceTime for couple Poy and Jeryl from the Philippines. The pair have postponed their November wedding due to COVID-19, but still wanted to have beautiful images to remember their engagement.

“What inspired me is the drive to still create art and to express myself despite the pandemic. I was inspired by one of the photographers I look up to- Alessio Albi who shoots models virtually using facetime. I want to incorporate it to my field which is wedding photography,” Alinsod told Wedding ETC.

Alinsod used his Photoshop skills to add graphics to the photos. He also asked the bride-to-be to write letters to her partner that he then superimposed onto the photos.

Alinsod says that a Facetime photoshoot brings its own unique challenges.

“The process of shooting on FaceTime is very much different from shooting with an actual camera. There’s an extra challenge to it. Other than directing the poses of the couple, you’ll need to also direct the placing of the camera. Prior to shooting, I asked the couple to give me a “virtual tour” of their place so I would know where is the good light and to also determine where will I let them position.”

The only difficulty he faced was in the quality of the photos because comparing the quality of screenshots to an actual shot from a camera is way different.

This unique photoshoot goes beyond the pandemic, proving that creativity and love cannot be stopped. Despite the tough current climate, this couple will always have these stunning shots to remember that their love is real and survived the unexpected.

Essential workers on the frontline of the COVID-19 pandemic have faced much heartbreak over the last few months. Those who were meant to tie the knot during this time experienced even more sadness over having to cancel their big days to join the fight against coronavirus.

This past weekend, 100 couples from 15 different provinces in China married in a group wedding after their own were cancelled. The wedding was held at resort city Sanya in south China’s Hainan Province.

The group wedding was organised by the municipal government and supported by about 50 enterprises to honour all the workers who had to put their big day aside to work on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The couples were also provided with free round-trip airfare, accommodation, wedding photos and honeymoon tours.

Take a look at some of the stunning images from the big day HERE.

Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock recently became engaged to boyfriend of 4 years, footballer Andre Gray. The happy couple might tie the knot soon, according to Pinnock’s bandmate Jesy Nelson.

Gray popped the question on their 4-year anniversary in late May, which they celebrated at home with a romantic setup in their garden. Gray had set up an outdoor cinema and a walkway of fairylights. Halfway through the film, it cut out and a song special to their reationship began to play as videos and pictures of the couple flittered on screen.

The words “four years and counting” floated on screen, followed by “Will you marry me?” as Gray knelt on one knee to propose.

The engagement had been a long time coming for the couple. In an interview on the Heart breakfast show, Little Mix bandmate Jesy Nelson said that Pinnock has been waiting for years for the proposal

“Every time Andre does anything romantic, she messages us, she’s like ‘it could be now’, we’re like ‘Leigh…chill babe.'”

Nelson also revealed that Pinnock won’t wait long to walk down the aisle.

“Obviously we can’t give anything away, but we know it will probably be soon because Leigh-Anne has no patience,” she said. “She will just want to hurry up and do it, but it will probably be like the biggest most extravagant wedding ever, because that’s just Leigh-Anne all over.”

Nelson added that all the Little Mix members could be bridesmaids on the big day, and will likely wear something incredibly stylish.

“I think it will be the height of fashion, I mean I’ll wear whatever she tells us to.”

“I mean we don’t even know if we’re bridesmaids yet, I love that we’re going on as if we’re definitely bridesmaids.”

The late, legendary rocker David Bowie would have celebrated his 28th wedding anniversary with now widow, Somalian-born supermodel and actress Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid on Saturday, June 6. To pay tribute on this special day, Iman shared a heartwarming video.

In a recent Instagram Live post, Iman shared a slideshow of images from their wedding day, with the caption “June 6th, Wedding Anniversary” accompanied by the hashtags #BowieForever and #EternalLove. As the photos switch from one to the next, Bowies song, Wild is the Wind, plays.

The photos show true love and romance between this iconic pair.

It seems some of these images have never been seen before as Oscar James, Emmy Award-winning hair stylist commented, “Wow!! I’ve known you a very long time, and I’ve never seen some of these photos before. Thank you for sharing. ❤️”

Of course, comments sending love came pouring in from many people, including fellow supermodels Niomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.

The iconic couple met at a dinner party in 1990, just after Iman had retired from her modelling career, according to E! News. Many have reported that Bowie, in that instant, knew he would love her forever. He once said that he was already naming the children they would have together on the night they met.

Iman, however, was not keen on being with a rockstar. She once said to The Gaurdian: “I did not want to get involved with a rock star. No way. It is not a sane thing to do.”

Thereafter, Bowie pursued her endlessly and he eventually changed her mind. “He wooed me,” she reminised.

In 1992, they said their “I-do’s” in a civil ceremony in Switzerland. They celebrated again with a bigger wedding in Florence. 8 years later, in 2000, they welcomed their daughter, Alexandria Zahra Jones, into the world.

According to E! News, Bowie once said, “You would think that a rock star being married to a supermodel would be one of the greatest things in the world. It is.”

Bowi passed away on January 10, 2016.

Esteemed Vogue editor Anna Wintour is often considered a trailblazing visionary. While this is often in reference to her mark on the fashion world, it also refers to her wedding day.

According to famed American fashion journalist and former American editor-at-large of Vogue magazine, Wintour included her exes in her intimate, 40-person wedding to David Shaffer back in 1984.

In his memoir, The Chiffon Trenches, Talley wrote, “I wore my best gray Dior suit and left straight from the office, arriving at Anna’s Sullivan Street home at twelve-thirty p.m. … The banquet table was filled with family and, strangely, her ex-boyfriends. They all came over from England for her wedding. I guess it was some kind of English custom.”

Maybe it is a British thing. Various members of the royal family have also extended invitations to former lovers. Prince Harry famously invited exes Cressida Bonas, Chelsy Davy, and Ellie Goulding to his 2018 wedding to Megan Markle. The New York Times reports that Prince William invited four of his exes to witness his 2011 nuptials to Kate Middleton. And, of course, Prince Charles had ex (and future wife) Camilla Parker-Bowles front and centre when he wed Princess Diana in 1981.

Inviting your ex to your big day seems pretty awkward, unless you have continued to have a non-romantic relationship with them post break-up. Or, maybe it’s an elaborate power move to prove to them that you could do better. Either way, it’s a pretty polarising decision that one has to make for themselves.

Coulpes have had to get extra creative in tying the knot amid the coronavirus pandemic. While weddings cannot go on as we know them, this South African wedding venue has created an excellent alternative.

Collisheen Estate, one of the most sought-after private function facilities on the Dolphin Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, is now offering drive-in wedding packages.

A representative of the state explained to Wedding ETC that the drive-in wedding concept started off as a joke, but they grew more serious about it as lockdown continued to affect the wedding industry.

Currently, wedding ceremonies are not allowed during Level 3 lockdown. People may only marry at Home Affairs or with a marriage officer. However, Collisheen Estate hopes that their latest offering will provide a new alternative to allow couples to still say ‘I do’ while following safe social distancing.

The estate is awaiting further announcements from the government on when they may legally open the service to the public amid the nationwide lockdown. However, they have already had lots of interest from couples still hoping to say ‘I do’ this year.

“Sunset Oval Drive in weddings are a site to behold! The most magnificent sunsets turn this unconventional day into a magical fairytale,” writes the company on their website.

“Our very experienced venue coordinators are here to help you coordinate your special day and liaise between you, the venue operations team and coordinate any service providers to ensure a perfect day. Our Executive head chef and team will prepare delicious canape’s for you and we will serve it directly to your guests’ cars. Collisheen Estate adheres strictly to all of the health and safety precautions and we assure you of our best attention at all times.”

There are two drive-in wedding packages: a standard and all-inclusive option. The standard package includes canapes and venue hire. Couples may choose their own service providers who will be guided by the Collisheen team.

The all-inclusive package includes venue hire, catering and refreshments, photography and videography, a wedding cake, a bridal salon and much more. This option allows couples to just arrive on their big day, taking away the stress of planning and managing a wedding.

Across the US, protests against racial injustice and police brutality have been widespread after the unlawful killing of George Floyd. In most cases, protesters prefer not to stand out to ensure that they are no easily identifiable. One Philadelphia couple, however, made a statement by celebrating their wedding at the protests on Saturday, June 6.

Dr. Kerry Anne Perkins and Micheal Gordon got married at the Logen Hotel in Philadelphia. Immediately after, they made their way outside and were cheered on by thousands of protestors during a ‘Black Lives Matter’ (BLM) rally.

According to E! News, this was not planned. The couple were taking some wedding shots outside the hotel when protestors passed by and they decided it was only right for them to join in.

Rev. Roxy Birchfield, the wedding planner, told E! News that,”They were supposed to get married at Legacy Castle and it was postponed.” Since the postponement, the pair decided on a micro-wedding on the lawn of the Logen Hotel instead.

According to People, there was a special moment as they made their way out. The massive group of people made way for the couple as they walked to the middle of the street hand-in-hand and stopped for a kiss.

“It ended up being a very powerful moment,” Kerry-Anne told ABC News. “Not only are we feeling the movement of the people … but I’m meeting my husband, on our wedding day, as a strong black man and a good representative of who we are as people, what our men are like, what our culture is like. It was just a very, very empowering moment for us considering all of this is happening at one moment in one time.”

After the thrill of their celebrations this weekend, Perkins took to Instagram to talk about what happened.

“Never in our wildest dreams did we think our love story would capture the hearts of so many people. ⁣⁣We are grateful to share our special day with such a pivotal moment in history, and we are honored to be a positive representation of Black Love and why Black Lives Matter,” she said alongside some digital drawings created by a variety of artists.
