Samuel L Jackson surprised fans with some sweet words for his wife LaTanya on their 40th wedding anniversary. The pair have been together for half a century.

In an Instagram post, Jackson looked back at their 50 years together and gushed about his wife.

50 years ago we started dancing, it was all fun & games. 40 years ago today, shit got real! The slow drag of our lives pressed together, I led sometimes, sometimes she did. We finally found that rhythm where there was no leader, we moved as one,” he wrote.

“We’re still glued together, hip to hip, a holding each other up, not covering as much of the floor, but owning & loving the space that’s ours. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY @ltjackson_ Love ? You for keeping me on my toes & on the beat for 18,250 days. You make my soul ? sing‼️Don’t change the tune, we’re not done dancing?????”

The actors met pre-fame, back when Samuel attended Morehouse College. They tied the knot on August 18, 1980. Together, they have one daughter named Zoe (38).

In an interview with Essence, LaTanya says the secret to their success is love has been their faith.

“You have to have a big heart and the Lord. You can’t do this without the Lord. You’re going to have to turn to somebody, something — because men, they are different. They’re cut from a different cloth.”

She adds that they’ve had a personal mantra that has kept them together.

“I’m telling you, we were revolutionaries. We used to say the most revolutionary thing was to keep a Black family together. So that became our mantra.”

Congratulations are in order for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Lauren Hashian! The pair recently celebrated their very first wedding anniversary, and Johnson had beautiful words to say about his wife.

Johnson shared a stunning video from their 2019 wedding in Hawaii, set to a song called ‘Step Into A Love Like This’ that Hashian wrote and performed on their wedding day. In an emotional Instagram post, he calls Hashian the “mate to my soul”.

    https://www.instagram.com/tv/CECw0edlQd7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

“Lauren is a gifted and soulful songwriter who wrote every single word of this song (and her vows) to reflect our life and blessings on our wedding day,” Johnson gushed in the post caption.

“I’m not a writer, so all I can do is speak from my heart and gut — and other than my three daughters being born — this is the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Bottom line, I’m a lucky and grateful husband, father and man to have such an amazing woman by my side through this unpredictable, yet beautiful thing we call life.”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CECMNSpJrbu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

In her own Instagram post, Hashian describes the song as “the most personal and rewarding song I’ve ever written. Personal because every word is from the heart, and rewarding because one year ago today on our wedding day August 18, 2019, I was able to share this song with my man I now call my husband in front of our little girls and our family & friends.”

“It was an honor and a gift to reflect on our life and love then and I truly can’t believe the things that we’ve been able to share in our lifetime. Today I want to say Happy Anniversary to you my love :), with a heart FULL of absolute gratitude @therock and a soul full of love. One year down baby and 52 more to go!”

The song is now available on all streaming platforms.

It’s been four years since Siya and Rachel Kolisi said ‘I do’. The beloved South African couple took to Instagram to share the love on their big day.

To honour the occasion, Siya shared a series of snaps of the pair. “Happy Anniversary babe @rachel_kolisi ❤️ I can’t imagine my world without you!” Siya captioned the slideshow.

Rachel got a bit cheeky with her post, writing, “Happy anniversary @siya_kolisi_the_bear !
First 3 years brought up all our beautiful wedding pictures or videos. And DEEEEP captions. From this year going forward feels like a great opportunity for pay back.”

Siya and Rachel met at a dinner party in Stellenbosch back in 2012. They soon became friends, but Siya always liked Rachel. He eventually plucked up the nerve to ask her out, an experience he has described as scary.

“I knew I liked her and had to tell her,” he wrote on their wedding website. “It was scary. I asked her to lunch and that’s when I told her. She played hard to get in the beginning, but eventually admitted it as well. The rest is history. We have a beautiful family and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her.”

The couple became engaged whilst sky high. Siya popped the question during a helicopter ride over Cape Town.

They married on August 13, 2016 with a beautiful ceremony in Franschhoek that had many South African athletes and other notable attendees present, such as Aisha Baker. Top Billing was on hand to capture their journey to the aisle.

Together, they share a big, blended family. They have two children together, son Nicholas Siyamthanda (5) and daughter Keziah (3). They have also adopted Siya’s younger half-siblings Liyema and Liphelo.

Congratulations are in order for Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi, who recently celebrated 12 years of marriage.

DeGeneres and De Rossi married on August 16, 2008 soon after same-sex marriage was legalised in California. They said ‘I do’ at their Los Angeles home with only 19 guests present. Both brides wore Zac Posen outfits for the big day.

Late philosopher and self-help guru Wayne Dyer officiated the ceremony.

“Today we have taken a giant step forward toward the ideal that all of us, with no exceptions, are not only created equal, but we each have the unalienable right to pursue our own happiness,” he said during the ceremony.

“I have often said that true nobility is not about being better than anyone else, it’s about being better than you used to be. With your exchange of vows today, you symbolize for many who have gone before you, who were forced to live their lives in quiet desperation, lurking in the shadows, that we as a people, are truly becoming better than we used to be.”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CCtSkfOjoRN/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The pair met at a party back in 2000, and De Rossi told Oprah she fell in love instantaneously. However, at the time she had not come out as a gay woman, so she could not express her feelings. In 2004, they reconnected at VH1’s Big in ’04 Awards.

They went public as a couple in 2005 at the HBO Golden Globe Awards After Party. They soon moved in together.

Speaking to People Magazine, De Rossi said: “It’s the first time that I’ve known in every cell of my being that I’m with somebody for the rest of my life.”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B3kRZP3pN59/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Over a decade later and the couple still seem as loved up as ever. They did not post any honororary social media posts to celebrate their anniversary, presumably because of the ongoing internal investigation at DeGeneres’s show following allegations of a toxic work environment. De Rossi has come out to say that she stands by her wife.

The much-loved power couple, actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have captivated Hollywood (and beyond) for years. Will, known for getting his big break in the hit show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has gone on to star in countless runaway success silverscreen films. He also launched a music career, getting the world to strut their moves on the dance floor to hits like Switch.

Jada, an equally successful entertainment powerhouse, also started out on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air where the two met. She has also starred in movies like The Matrix and did voice acting for the Madagascar trilogy.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B7mwUQulLaS/

But underneath all the glamour and fame, the two have also made headlines for their embattled marriage. According to Oprah Magazine they started dating in 1995 after Will’s first marriage to actress Sheree Zampino Fletcher ended.  Will asked Jada if she was seeing anyone, and she replied no. “Cool, you’re seeing me now,” he responded smoothly, and things took off!

The lovebirds got engaged in 1997, and the day after the engagement, they found out that Jada was pregnant. They held a private ceremony at a hotel in Baltimore, Jada’s hometown. According to People, there were no invitations sent out as the pair wanted to stay below the radar.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B7mvJaPl76r/

Throughout the years they have stuck together, but not without a few bumps in the road. After a public statement Jada made in 2013, many took her comments to mean that she and Will are in an open marriage and seeing other people. “I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay’,” she said.

Later, however, the actress took to social media to clarify, and said that this was not the case. “Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship… this means we have a GROWN one,” she said on Facebook.

However, more recently, another incident rocked the boat. In 2016, rumours did the rounds that Jada had an affair with singer August Alsina. Jada and Will were reportedly on a “break” at the time, and Jada became good friends with Alsina after which they began a relationship.  At the same time, Will was said to be “involved” with model Heidy de la Rosa.

“We decided that we were going to separate for a period of time,” Jada said, according to Elle. Neither of the two regarded their extra-marital relationships as wrong, and they never got divorced.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B8g4wcPh64V/

The two did decide to get back together, however, and are still together today. Stronger than ever, the movie stars say they are and will remain married, but not in the traditional sense.

“We don’t even say we’re married anymore,” Will said. “We refer to ourselves as ‘life partners’, where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life. There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do – ever – nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support til death, and it feels so good to get to that space.”

The couple share two children and will celebrate their 23rd wedding anniversary this year.

Love her or hate her, Emily Ratajkowski has style. Her chic, seemingly effortless silhouette was echoed on her wedding day in 2018.

True to herself, Ratajkowski wed her man, Sebastian Bear-McClard, in a simple courthouse ceremony. Rather than splashing on luxury, the bride wore Zara (maybe not the most ethical choice). Nevertheless, her $250 mustard yellow suit stole the show.

She took to social media to announce her nuptials. According to Vogue, Ratajkowski wrote “got married today” in an Instagram story. Her and Bear-McClard had only been dating for a few weeks but have known each other for years.

It’s been four years since funnyman Kevin Hart and model Eniko Parrish said ‘I do’. A pregnant Eniko took to social media to write a sweet message of devotion to her husband.

“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MY LOVE ? Here’s to US! to our love, our adventures, our hearts, and our forever. 8.13.16,” she wrote on Instagram, along with an image of the two on honeymoon in St. Barths.

Kevin and Eniko met in 2009. While little is known about the early days of their relationship, we do know that they made their first public appearance as a couple in 2011 after Kevin’s divorce to first wife Torrei Hart was finalised.

On August 9, 2014 (Eniko’s birthday) Kevin popped the question and, of couse, Eniko said yes.

They married on August 13, 2016 in a lavish ceremony in Santa Barbara, California. Eniko wore two custom Vera Wang bridal gowns for their big day. Kevin’s son Hendrix acted as his best man, and daughter Heaven was also in the bridal party.

Despite infidelity on Kevin’s side, the couple have maintained a united front. In November 2017, they welcomed their first child together, Kenzo, and in 2020 they announced they are expecting their second child together.

Lockdown won’t stop love. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Arsenal star Bernd Leno was committed to marrying long-term girlfriend Sophie Christin.

The pair, who have been together for 5 years, tied the knot in Sophie’s hometown of Dusseldorf, Germany. They had a simple civil ceremony and can be seen grinning from ear to ear in their wedding photos.

Many of their famous friends took to social media to congratulate the pair, including fellow Arsenal sportstar Rob Holding. Other Bundesliga stars like Julian Brandt, Kevin Volland and Omer Toprak also sent their well wishes for the couple.

The highly-anticipated third season of Selling Sunset recently premiered on Netflix. Promising heartbreak, love and drama, fans were not disappointed.

The final episode detailed Chrstine Quinn’s extravagent wedding to millionaire tech entrepreneur Christian Richard. Christine is known for being over-the-top, and her wedding would naturally be nothing different. To top her circus-inspired engagement party that came complete with fire dancers and a live zebra, she worked with luxury wedding planner Lisa Lafferty to create a true showstopper.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CDk0KSBHAxR/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Speaking to Oprah Magazine, Lafferty said the event had no monetary cap, as the budget was love.

“She said, ‘The budget’s love.’ They were very generous with their budget,” Lafferty told the magazine. “It was absolutely over a million dollar wedding. We did everything custom and couture for her, because her style is kind of wild. We were able to take risks.”

The ceremony venue was designed to look like a dead forest, complete with ice sculptures, chandeliers and live black and white swans. As Christine walked down the aisle in her custom black Galia Lahav gown, a faux storm complete with thunder and fake snow rained on her guests.

It took a team of 100 people to transform the reception venue into a gothic winter wonderland. Red and black were the primary colours.

While little was seen of the actual reception (mainly because the plot was overshadowed by an argument that broke out between the cast regarding costar Christell’s recent divorce from This is Us star Justin Hartley), it was truly mesmerising.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CDwGZZogQVU/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The multi-layered wedding cake was over 8 feet, covered in velvet black petals, golden leaves and deep red poppies. The cake was topped with a sugar gargoyle “watching over the couple, making sure their love will never die”, explains Christine on Instagram. Inside the black cake, a vanilla sponge was revealed to have a ‘bleeding’ centre.

Following the episode’s airing, Christine explained that the wedding was so much more special and over-the-top than was shown. Unfortunately, her big day was somewhat overshadowed by Chrishell’s divorce, which editors heavily focused on.

“I understand they wanted to get certain storylines in there, but this was actually my day. This was my day, and I was just disappointed in the way it was perceived on camera and translated, unfortunately,” she said.

“I’m not going to lie, I was crying when I watched it. I was like, ‘This is not my wedding, this is not my wedding.’”

Many say that in order for your love to be strong, it should be founded on friendship first. For South African on-air personality, actress and model Minnie Dlamini and her husband, former football player Quinton Jones, this is most definitely the case. We take a look at their love story.

The pair met in 2010 when they both worked at Urban Brew Studios. While Jones was much more senior than Dlamini, who was just an assistant runner at the time, they still worked in close proximity and became very close friends.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B48OrnqHwLc/

In an interview with Jacaranda FM, Dlamini said: “We both worked at Urban Brew studios. He was obviously much more senior than I was, I was just like an assistant runner. He basically became my best friend. He was one of those friends where I’d be like in the club, and I’d be partying, and he would be like, ‘I think we should go home now,’ and I would be like, ‘why?’ and I would say, ‘okay, dad.’ Our friendship grew and grew.”

She then explained that they were never single at the same time. Eventually, when they were both single, things started to fall into place.

“We were both single, and he was like, ‘why don’t we give it a shot?’ I was like, ‘no that’s weird’. ‘He was like no one knows you like me, and no one knows me like you,” she explained.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/Bwxpl7In_UM/

They began dating, but didn’t make things official until a year later.

“So for a year we were together but weren’t official. Then he took me on holiday and asked me to be his girlfriend. And I was like, I really like you,” she said.

On July 8, 2017, the pair tied the knot in a stunning traditional wedding at Glenn Hills in Northern Durban, KwaZulu Natal.

South African stars such as Basetsana Kumalo, Jessica Nkosi, Anele Mdoda, Zakes Bantwini, Nandi Madida, Criselda Dudumashe, Jimmy Tau and Unathi Msengana were all in attendance.

According to multiple reports, the couple asked that guests refrain from taking pictures, and had everyone wear wristbands in order to limit the public knowledge of the inside of their wedding. Despite this, many images were shared to social media.

On September 16, 2017 the pair celebrated their nuptials again with a white wedding at the Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West.

Dlamini produced a TV wedding special for DStv which showcased her wedding. Called “Minnie Dlamini: Becoming Mrs. Jones”, the three-part special takes viewers through the planning for both ceremonies, Dlamini’s bachelorette party and the weddings themselves. It first aired on VUZU AMP on October 13, 2017.
