Recently, world-famous musician Lady Gaga was a bridesmaid at her make-up artist Sarah Tanno’s wedding. As can be expected, she went all out and made a statement no one could miss.

At the ceremony in Mexico, the superstar wore a neon pink satin dress with equally neon hair to match. The groom, Tim Stewart, is also a guitarist for the singer. On her Instagram story, Gaga posted a picture of her at the beach wedding saying “Two of my best friends just got married. Time to party!”

Tannon, a renowned and sought-after make-up artist, posted pictures saying “I’m still on cloud 9. We have the most amazing family and friends. I love my photos already”

Lady Gaga looked spectacular in her pink-all-over outfit and we love it. Not all bridesmaids love their dresses. However, she rocked the look, making her-officially-the coolest bridesmaid ever.

Your make up will determine your whole look, and it’s important that it suits your personality, dress and overall theme. Here are five looks that have always been popular to give you some inspiration.

    Metallic
This style is perfect for the rockstar-bride. Go for shades of purple, bronze and silver for a dramatic look.

    Classic
Over the years, the classic neutral eyes with bold red lips have always been a favourite. It speaks of timeless class and sophistication.

    Smokey
The smokey eye is a good option if you are looking to make a lasting impression. Pair it with nude lips to make your eyes pop!

    Fresh
Depending on your skin tone, the natural, spring-inspired look will have you looking radiant.

    Contoured
Keep up with the Kardashians who practically invented (and perfected) this edgy style.

We’ve seen it all. The weird, the wacky, the gorgeous and glamorous. Some people prefer subtle and understated, but not these brides. They go all out or nothing. Call it what you will, here are the some very over-the-top wedding cakes.

    I heart you
We guess this is one way to portray romance.

    Mine is bigger than yours
    Bigger is better, right?

    Fairytale wedding
We hope they lived happily ever after.

    Head over heels
Which way is up (and how does it stay together)?

    Crystal towers
    It’s all about the bling.

    You light up my life
We’re not saying it’s a bad thing, but this reminds us of a night light in a child’s bedroom.

Plenty of fish in the sea
Is the cake served with sushi?

Sporting the pixie cut or the savvy bob? No stress. There is still lots to do with it! Short hair is very hot right now, and can go whichever way you want. We’ve got feminine, we’ve got glamorous, we’ve even got fun. You choose.

    Gold flecks
These are a stunning new trend and we’re here for it. Simply spray some hair spray and stick the foil flecks on your hair to rock this look.

    Tiara
A tiara never goes out of style and adds sparkle to any look. We love this chic look.

    Styled curls
Curls are temperamental and depending on the style you want, be sure to try it out first. This finished look is the more put-together cousin of the messy curls and perfect for a wedding.

    Gatsby-flair
A classic vintage look, this style goes well with glitzy hair pieces.

    Plaited
Plaits are a beautiful addition to any look and just subtle enough to not be overpowering. You can go with plaits around your head or over your head like a head band.

    Comb-over
For a more edgy look, the comb-over is all the rage. Sweep all your hair to one side and separate with a path. Make sure to keep the hairspray nearby!

Nobody likes uninvited guests at their wedding. But what if it’s a Beluga whale? One couple was delighted when the friendly sea creature swam up to them during their aquarium wedding in Connecticut, US.

The couple obviously love the ocean and its inhabitants, and we agree, they are beautiful. Standing beneath a dome of blue water and coral fish, this was already the perfect setting. Then one more attendant swam over to be included in the festivities.

They had a whale of a time!

Belugas are naturally curious like most sea mammals, and are known to have a friendly nature. And apparently, they’re really good photobombers! The internet is having a party with the picture, captioning cute comments like: ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something Beluga!’

December is synonymous with one thing in the Western world: Christmas. Everyone is ready to kick back, bake cookies and be merry. Festive lights are hung and trees are decorated. In the Northen Hemisphere, people build snowmen and drink warm drinks, cuddling in front of fire places. In the bottom half of the world, we sip on icy drinks while the kids splash in the pool. Braais every day are in order.

Not many people think about getting hitched while shopping for presents and cooking Christmas lunches. However, it’s actually the perfect time to get married. Here’s why:

    The atmosphere

There’s no two ways about it: The atmosphere in December is amazing. People are generally friendlier and more relaxed. There’s a reason people call it the festive season. Everyone is feeling the love, so you can’t go wrong!

    People have time

People usually have more time to travel and relax, as most people’s work either closes for a few days or people put in leave. No worrying about family and friends having to rush in and out to attend your wedding.

    Families are together

December is the time where even the most hardened hearts become soft. Families get together and that’s good for you if you want your whole family at your wedding.

    Save money by combining

If you want to go all out and embrace Christmas wholeheartedly, why not combine the two events? You can have your wedding on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. That way, people don’t have to spend money on two separate events and gifts. You can still remember the significance of what this holiday means for you, and celebrate the new chapter in your life with your partner all in one.

    You can incorporate Christmas decor

We saved the best for last: Christmas decor! If you love the themes of Christmas, you will have a blast with the decor. Red, gold and green is the way to go! If done right, Christmas decor is the epitome of class and beauty.

Sunshine, icy drinks, flowers and, did we say sunshine? If you’re a summery soul, an outdoor wedding will be perfect and hosting your wedding in the hot months will be a blast. With so many fun things to incorporate, you can go wild! Here are some sizzling ideas.

    Garden games

Let’s be honest, it’s not just the kiddies that love to play in the garden. Adults can have all the fun too. Have some games set up if your venue includes a garden, so folks can get some fresh air between the ceremony and reception. Think crocquet, ring toss, and jumbo Jenga.

    Fruity cocktails

If the sun’s out and the temperatures are soaring, there’s nothing nicer than to sip on an ice cold fruity drink. You can have ready made cocktails or even have a station where guests can mix their own.

    Live music

Music really does set the vibe and live music creates a relaxed atmosphere. Many local bands are not too expensive, or maybe you have a muso-friend. Of course, you might just want to splurge and hire a professional band, then go for it!

    Floral decor

Nothing says ‘summer’ like flowers. Make the most of it by bringing it into the decor. Centre pieces on the tables, bunches behind the chairs and along the pathways will create a paradise look.

    Parasols

If you and your guests are going to be in the sun all day, you don’t want to burn. Parasols are the perfect solution. They look classy and provide perfect protection. Remember to add additional shade, like gazebos.

Most brides ask their younger nieces, cousins or even siblings to be their flower girls. This is one fun adventure since they are usually quite young. So, no competition for you. Just cuteness overload. Make sure they look as stylish as you! Here’s what’s trending for the young ones.

    Coloured waistbands

If you want the girls’ dresses to be white, why not add a splash of colour that ties in with the scheme? Waistbands are in, and the bow at the back is still a favourite.

    Mullet tutus

How pretty is this? Ballerina meets modern. We love the fun feel it adds.

    Sequins

Shine bright like a diamond with sequined dresses. Little girls love them (and grown-ups do too).

    Open back

If you want your flower girls to look super stylish, go for open back designs. This will complete the theme nicely if your dress has one too.

    Tea length

This is a great solution to prevent kids from tripping over long dresses on the aisle. Still elegant, just a tad more practical.

A woman who wanted to make a promise of commitment to herself, decided to make it official by marrying herself. Rita Woodall-Terblanche (63) from Vanderbijlpark says she knows people will probably think she’s crazy, but she doesn’t care.

She has been married twice before. She divorced from her first husband in 1981, saying they married too young and was not meant to be. She married her second husband in 1982, who passed away three years ago. “I loved Alan, but I promised myself I would never marry a man again, so I went ahead and married myself” she told Netwerk24.

This marriage is not recognised as official by the state, and as such is only symbolic. Rita says that she has been through a lot in her life, and she owed it to herself. Her second husband, Alan, had been retrenched and had health issues, to such an extent that he was bed-ridden. “I took care of him all those years, but each day was an uphill battle.” Now, she wants to put herself first.

Rita made herself a ring with a horse shoe shaped cut-out, filled with yellow diamonds. The horse shoe symbolises good luck.

Her best friend “conducted” the wedding, and seven other friends and family members made up the guest list. To celebrate this new chapter in her life, Rita will take herself on “honeymoon” to relax in a holiday resort in Bela-Bela.

We all know what the best part of the wedding is. Sure, the heartfelt moments were sweet, the vows made you teary and the food was absolutely to die for. Fast forward a few hours to you head banging on the dance floor. Now you’re in your happy place and having a blast.

But what do people want to hear? The music you choose will have a big affect on the overall mood. Not all DJ’s get your vibe, and creating your own playlist is loads of fun.

Here are some classic, all-time favourites that never get old, as well as the latest local tunes South Africans love. Scientifically proven to guarantee a good time.

    1. Summer of ’69 – Bryan Adams
    2. Feeling you- MiCasa
    3. Don’t stop believing – Journey
    4. Can’t stop the feeling – Justin Timeberlake
    5. Mandoza – Nkalakatha
    6. I wanna dance with somebody – Whitney Houston
    7. Kaptein – Kurt Darren
    8. Thinking out loud – Ed Sheeran
    9. Dancing Queen – ABBA
    10. Going Back West- Boney M
    11. Footloose – Kenny Loggins
    12. Potbelly – Freshly Ground
    13. Cecilia – Simon & Garfunkel
    14. I do – Amanda Black
    15. Beautiful – The Parlotones

This list is bound to set the floor on fire and have guests rocking it out until the am. There’s only one rule on the dance floor: There are no rules on the dance floor.
