The world’s first official KFC wedding was held this past weekend in Queensland, Australia. Lucky couple Kate and Harrison Cann tied the knot in a finger-licking-good ceremony and reception entirely sponsored by the popular chicken franchise.

Back in September 2019, KFC Australia offered six soon-to-be-wed couples a chance to win a KFC themed wedding package. All they had to do is enter online and explain why they deserved the chicken feast. Kate and Harrison were the first lucky winners to have their wedding completely organised by KFC through their newly minted wedding service, beating out around 2,000 other hopeful couples for this unique opportunity.

The Cann’s, from Toowoomba in Queensland, had their first date at a KFC so it’s fitting that the couple would celebrate their big day with the famed chicken outlet.

On their big day, 150 of their nearest and dearest gathered for this momentous occasion. As part of the day, KFC gifted the couple with personalised KFC buckets, a wedding cake, photo booth, and a food truck dishing up Kentucky Fried Chicken.

“We’re over the moon to have been selected for the first-ever KFC wedding and having the Colonel present on our big day took us back to the first meal we shared together – KFC!,” Kate and Harrison told 7 News.

Back in 1985, Mick and Tracey Hepworth from the UK suffered a terrible misfortune. While celebrating at a pub after their wedding, Tracey’s handbag was stolen – with the film roll containing their wedding pictures.

Unbeknownst to them, Angie McHale had found the empty handbag with the roll of film on the street later that night, and had the photos developed. However, back then, she had no way of reaching the owners of the photos.

Years later, McHale came across the pictures again, and decided to share them on Facebook. To her surprise, within hours the pictures were shared hundreds of times and had over 400 comments with people trying to help. At last, a friend of Tracey saw it online and told her she thinks it might be her!

Angie got in contact with Mick and Tracey and finally reunited the couple with their treasured memories of their special day.

“It was a thoughtful gesture for what was a complete stranger,”Angie said. “It just shows Facebook can be used for good,” added Tracey.

What a lovely anniversary gift, as Mick and Tracey will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary this July.

A man in the US was diagnosed with a rare and fast-growing cancer that cannot be cured, according to the National Cancer Institute. Then, in January of this year, Rachel rushed her loving partner Gus to the hospital when he experienced severe pain. He had been hospitalized ever since.

But Gus knew he wanted Rachel to be his wife.  So on 15 February, Gus proposed to Rachel from his hospital bed. “We kind of just talked about, ‘Why would we get married if we know this potentially could lead to him not being here much longer?’ and I said I didn’t care about that,” Rachel told CNN.
Just a week later, Gus and Rachel had their wedding, right in the hospital! The caregivers helped decorate the atrium with flowers, brought the wedding cake and cupcakes and set up seating for guests.
“The perfect definition is ‘just bittersweet,'” Rachel told WABC. “We’re still on cloud nine. We’re still living in the moment, and that’s basically what we’re doing every day,” she said. “I still want to be his wife no matter what.”

Adored across the world, the Harry Potter franchise has inspired many. This couple loved the story of the boy who lived so much, they decided to incorporate it into their big day.

Kim Dao and husband Eric from Sydney are huge Harry Potter fans. The pair got engaged at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Osaka, Japan back in 2018, and knew they wanted to continue this magical theme into their big day.

“Initially, we wanted everything to be ‘Harry Potter’-themed, but as time went on, it turned more into a Western-style wedding with some ‘Harry Potter’ touches,” Dao told Insider.

The wedding itself, held at Sydney’s Caversham House Hidden Gardens, was more traditional in style with smaller touches to represent their love for the film franchise. Their tables had floating candles just like the Hogwarts Great Hall, the menu had a tiny Hogwarts illustration and guests were given light-up wands.

As a party favour, Kim andEric chose a small key in ode to the enchanted key from “Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone”.

The wedding cake featured a Deathly Hallows topper, as well as the word “always,” in reference to Severus Snape’s famous line about his love for Lily Potter.

Taking things to the next level, the couple and their bridal party wowed the crowd with a choreographed dance routine using their light-up wands. Naturally, they wore wizard robes.

Brides planning a wedding in the upcoming months might be in for a rude surprise. With the current coronavirus outbreak, wedding dresses might be in short supply.

As the leading supplier of wedding dresses, China is in high demand come wedding season. According to the American Bridal and Prom Industry Association, 80% of the world’s western-style gowns are produced there. However, with the coronavirus outbreak, many factories have temporarily closed their doors to help curb the spread of the disease. Some factories are slowly reopening, but the loss in work has created a production delay which will slow-down the already intricate, time-consuming process of making a wedding dress. As a result, some brides might be without their dream dress come wedding day.

James Marcum, CEO of the largest seller of wedding gowns in the United States, David’s Bridal, told CNN that the situation in China will cause most likely cause a great disruption to wedding dresses as well as bridesmaid dresses.

“We’re already hearing that some wholesalers are informing their buyers about shipment delays because of the virus,” Marcum told CNN. “We don’t have full visibility as yet to the extent of those delays.”

Other companies like Mon Cheri Bridals are stockpiling wedding dresses and prom gowns in the case of a shortage come the American wedding season that typically falls between June-September.

The stereotype may suggest that all women love shopping, but that’s not really the case. For some, shopping can be an annoying or stressful experience. These women usually opt for the online shopping route.

Wedding dress shopping is even more taxing a task. Online shopping may seem like a good way to relieve some of the stress. It could give you more time to deal with other wedding organisation to-do’s, it saves you from endless interactions with consultants in bridal stores, and may even be more affordable. But we all know it comes with some risks.

This bride decided to take the chance. If the outcome of her online shopping escapades was not so funny it would be tragic.

The bride-to-be ordered what she thought would be a stunning lace dress with a cascading skirt. What she got, however, was much more comical. The dress, while it did somewhat resemble the picture’s lace and a cascading skirt, came with defining boob-cupholders.

Taking to instagram to share her misfortune, she wrote “Online order fail. Don’t worry though a new better dress has been purchased”.

The image she shared had her followers in stitches.

“Omg no way!!!! So funny, how could someone even ship that lol,” said @lizard17 in the comments. “Look on the bright side…you got yourself a Halloween costume now. Make the boob pads seashells and paint the dress green and boom you’re Ariel! Glad you were able to get a laugh out of this. Weddings can be stressful!,” said another follower, @dodgeret.

We can confirm that the bride replaced her dress with something much more fitting for the occasion:

Congrats to the bride! And for those of you brides-to-be considering online dress shopping, let this be a lesson in the risks involved.
