Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman celebrate one year of marriage

Another celebrity couple has reached an exciting milestone in their relationship. Actors Zoë Kravitz and Karl Glusman celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary yesterday, June 29.

Kravitz took to Instagram to honour their big day, simply captioning the image ‘one year.’

Kravitz and Glusman said ‘I do’ in Parison June 29, 2019. Zoe’s father, Lenny Kravitz’s 18th-century mansion acted as their wedding venue.

For their big day, Kravitz opted for an ankle-length scoop neck dress with a drop waist and full skirt. Instead of heels, she wore ballet flats. Her hair was elegantly pulled back into a low bun and she accessorised with a headband. Glusman went classic with a simple black and white tux.

TikTok wedding dress challenge goes viral

The coronavirus and the resulting worldwide lockdowns it has caused has resulted in many a social media challenge gain traction. It seems brides, old and new, are not being left out of this trend, and a new challenge, called the Wedding Dress challenge, on TikTok has gone viral.

Some challenges involve some sort of prank, and others show users doing something silly, but the wedding dress challenge is nothing but pure, wholesome fun.

Former brides, be it a bride from last year or a bride from 20 years ago, are surprising their spouses by putting on their wedding dresses and capturing their reactions in a TikTok. The reactions are sweet and heartwarming, and just what we need to make the continuing lockdown seem not that bad.

Katherine McPhee and David Foster celebrate first wedding anniversary

Congratulations are in order for Katherine McPhee and David Foster, who recently celebrated one year of marriage.

The actress and singer and her music executive husband both took to social media to express their love for each other on their special day.

“A year ago today I married the love of my life. Thank you for always loving me and inspiring me in all aspects of my life. I love you. Here’s to the future! (Oh and happy anniversary to the other love of my life – this dreamy dress! ?? thank you @ZacPosen!!)” McPhee wrote on Instagram.

The couple met in 2006 on the set of American Idol, when McPhee was a contestant and Foster was a mentor. They only began dating in 2017 and got engaged a year later.

They married in 2019 at the Church of Saint Yeghiche in South Kensington, London. It was the second marriage for McPhee and fifth for Foster, who was previously married to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and mother to Gigi and Bella Hadid, Holanda Hadid. He was also married to singer Linda Thompson, the first ex-wife of Caitlin Jenner.

The couple, who have a 35-year age gap, had planned to return to London to celebrate their anniversary, but scrapped those plans amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, they had a small celebration with friends and family.

Cape couple hold drive-by wedding

The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed the world, but it won’t stop love. A Cape Town couple proved just that when they tied the knot this past weekend amid the nationwide lockdown, by having a ‘drive-by wedding’.

Tanweer and Aqeelah Regal from Surrey Estate met about 6-7 years ago through relatives. Tanweer wanted a relationship but Aqeelah was focused on her sports and academics, so they remained friends until 2016.

The couple then dated for four years and became engaged in November 2019. Originally, they had planned to marry on June 21 and book a hall that could host their guest list of 750 people. Aqeelah tells Wedding ETC that the lockdown caused her quite a bit of stress.

“I had about 10 girls to be bridesmaids and flower girls etc, we had family coming down from Dubai to be a part of our day. Once we heard lockdown was happening, I panicked because things were halfway sorted for the 21st already.”

The couple are Muslim, and their religion states that weddings may be brought forward but cannot be postponed. As such, they kept their original date but massively scaled back. The 10 flower girls were reduced to one, there were no bridesmaids, and they cancelled the hall.

They had originally planned to just have their parents and siblings in attendance, but friends and family were not happy that they would only witness the wedding through pictures.

“Family and friends started messaging us saying they wouldn’t settle for pictures, that’s where the drive-by wedding idea came in. They wanted to see us, so my husband suggested okay let’d do the drive-by and when they pass by we will give them a punnet of food, as a thank you.”

This is exactly what they did. Hundreds of cars slowly drove by their home on June 21, as their family and friends hooted and cheered in celebration of the couple’s big day. The couple took many measures to ensure a safe day, such as screening and sanitising their guests.

Aqeelah tells Wedding ETC that her favourite part of their wedding day was when they had the nikkah. “It was hearing my husband recite his prayer of becoming my husband and then seeing him for the first time after a week. It’s like we fell in love all over again,” she said.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban celebrate 14th anniversary

Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her Australian singer, songwriter husband Keith Urban celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on Thursday, June 25. To celebrate their milestone, they each posted sweet tributes to their marriage on Instagram.

Urban posted a playful photo of the two jumping hand-in-hand on a beach. “Happy Anniversary Baby!!!!! 14 years…. and i feel like your boyfriend in ALL the right ways!!!!” he said.

The pair first met at the 2005 G’Day USA gala. At the time, Kidman didn’t think that her now-husband liked her. In 2013, she told Ellen DeGeneres that she once told her husband “You didn’t love me at first sight, you didn’t notice me”, to which he replied, “Yes, I did but I just didn’t let on”.

It was a long four months after their first meeting when Urban finally called her. Thereafter, the pair began a low-key relationship, according to People. After spending time together in Nashville and then New York while Urban was on tour, the pair quickly fell in love.

Kidman told the Wall Street Journal that her husband stole her heart when we took her on a ride on his Harley Davidson through Woodstock, New York, after which they had a romantic picnic in the woods.

“I was a goner – I mean, c’mon,” she said. According to Southern Living, Kidman knew he was the one after just one month of dating.

In 2006, they tied the knot in a candlelit ceremony at Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel on St. Patrick’s Estate at Manly in Sydney, Australia. They honeymooned in French Polynesia, where they also spent time getting to know each other more deeply.

“I kind of like getting married and then getting to know each other; I know that it sounds incredibly strange, but to me, it’s a more natural process,” Kidman told Elle.

In an interview with CBS News, Urban said that marrying Kidman felt like the beginning of his life. “Meeting her and getting married wasn’t life-changing, it was life-beginning. It was literally, like, ‘OK, life starts,” he said.

The pair have two daughters together, Sunday and Faith, and Kidman also has two kids, Conner and Isabella, with her ex-husband Tom Cruise.

Jamie Oliver prepares sweet picnic for wife on 20th anniversary

Being married to one of the world’s most famous chefs definitely comes with its perks. Jamie Oliver proved just that, when he prepared a sweet picnic for his wife Juliette Norton (better known as Jools) on their 20th wedding anniversary on June 24.

First, Oliver shared a touching video on his Instagram page, showing pictures from their wedding album.

He captioned the video, “Today is my 20th wedding anniversary!! I had a great day today with my best mate @joolsoliver celebrating 20 years of marriage!! Where has that time gone it’s crazy! Jools did the same, posting a touching tribute to their marriage in the form of a video on her Instagram page.

Later in the day, Oliver surprised his wife with a specially prepared picnic.

He carefully planned the menu, as is to be expected from a top chef, and wrote it up with a “JJ” letterhead. It featured a hand-drawn picnic basket full of food between their initials.

The menu sounded delicious, and included items such as Italian summer fruit, chocolate mousse and crème fraiche, and a blackcurrant leaf cordial.

According to Hello Magazine, the special anniversary surprise came just after the pair were forced to cancel their vow renewal.

This clearly didn’t get them down, as they seem to have made the best of it. They even received flowers for their special day.

Olivia Newton-John and husband celebrate 12-year anniversary

Grease star Olivia Newton-John has reached a milestone with husband John Easterling. The couple recently celebrated their 12-year wedding anniversary, and seem as loved up as ever.

Newton-John took to Instagram to gush over her husband. She shared a picture from their 2008 wedding and sweetly captioned it, “Seems like yesterday I married the man of my dreams in Peru on the winter solstice 12 wonderful years ago! The Grammy award-winning singer and actress met the American businessman and environmentalist at an environmental show in the 90s, although there was no romantic connection. They kept running into one another over the years and grew close when Easterling stayed at Newton-John’s guesthouse for an extended period after he got in a car accident.

When Easterling, who had never seen Grease, heard Newton-John singing at a concert they went to, he was amazed and thought she was a healer.

“All I could think was that I wanted to introduce her to other healers who work in the Amazon,” Easterling said in an interview. “So, after the show, I asked if she wanted to come to Peru and she said yes. I thought, ‘Oh no, I’m taking her to Peru, I’d better watch Grease!’”

The pair fell in love on their Peru trip. In 2008, they married atop a mountain in Peru in an Incan spiritual wedding ceremony.

Easterling is founder of the Amazon Herb Company, and even formulated a special blend of cannabis, called ‘Olivia’s Choice’ in honour of his wife. Both are cannabis advocates, and Newton-John says the herb greatly eases the pain and stress of her stage 4 breast cancer.

Viola Davis celebrates 17th anniversary with husband

Academy award-winning actress Viola Davis and her husband, actor and producer Julius Tennon celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary on June 23. She gushed about him in a touching celebratory Instagram post.

Accompanied by photos from their wedding and vow renewal ceremonies, Davis wrote a touching tribute to her husband.

According to Essence, Davis said that she met her husband just three weeks after making a special prayer. She said that at the time, she was “the loneliest woman in the world” and was told that she needed to “pray for a husband”.

Speaking to Page Six, she said “I said I wanted a big black man from the South who looked like a football player, who already had children, who maybe had been married before . . . 3 1/2 weeks later I met my husband.”

Tennon said on an episode of OWN’s Black Love that they had met when he overheard Davis talking to a friend about how she didn’t like living in Los Angeles. They ended up chatting and he gave her his card. Davis then took several weeks to call him up, since she felt she wasn’t ready. “I didn’t call [him] because I had bad credit; I was struggling with driving in LA,” she said.

A month after they met, they finally went on their first date. Only 20 minutes after their first date he called her to tell her what a great time he had, and another 20 minutes later he called again to say, “I just want to tell you I got home, and you are a beautiful woman. I’m about to go to sleep, and I just wanted to tell you to have a good night.”

Thereafter, the pair fell in love and tied the knot in 2003. In 2011, they adopted their daughter, Genesis.

Wedding procession halted as groom and father test COVID-19 positive

An entire wedding procession was halted right before the wedding when a groom and his father were informed that they had tested positive for COVID-19 as they made their way to the ceremony. The ceremony was promptly called off in order to allow for the necessary quarantining to take place.

The wedding procession left the Kamrauli village in Amethi, India, on Friday, June 19. They were headed for Haidergarh, where the wedding was set to take place.

Just before this, on June 15, the groom and his family travelled from Delhi to Amethi. As a result, the had their samples sent in for testing. As we all know by now, testing for coronavirus can take up to a week. Therefore, they had not received any results before they left for the wedding.

As the family made their way to the wedding, they received their results. Sadly, the groom and his father were confirmed to be positive for the virus. This stopped not only the procession but the entire wedding in its tracks.

According to The Tribune India, the police were made aware of the situation, and they cut off the “baraat” (or the groom’s wedding procession).

Those who tested positive were taken to a hospital immediately, and others including around ten family members are now in quarantine.

After the groom and his father recover completely, the wedding will go ahead.

Liverpool’s Firmino celebrates 3rd anniversary with wife

While many may expect that a footballer may not be the most romantic type of guy out there, Roberto Firmino has smashed the stereotype. The Liverpool FC striker celebrated his third wedding anniversary with his wife Larissa on June 21, and shared a touching Instagram post to commemorate it.

Alongside images from their wedding day, Firmino wrote (translated from Portuguese): “Three years of the happiest day of my life. The day that our mouth was filled with laughter and our tongue with songs of joy. Even in other nations it was said, “The Lord has done great things for this people.” Yes, great things the Lord has done for us, so we are happy. ”

“Not even in my best dreams could I imagine that God would give me such a precious and perfect FAMILY! Thank you my God is much more than I deserved. ?? According to the Liverpool Echo, the happy couple spent their anniversary at home, over a special dinner prepared by catering company Salt and Pepper.

Roberto Firmino, better known as Bobby by his fans, married Larissa in June 2017, in his home town in Brazil. Judging by the photos, their wedding was spectacular.

The pair have two daughters, Valentina and Bella.
