Tip: Consult with your florist as to when these flowers are in season and what their availability is. Some may not bloom en masse, making it tricky to hero it for the entire flower ensemble.

Most people spend hours imagining what their wedding reception will look like, but few consider how difficult it is to decide on the type of table. It may seem trivial, but the round versus banquet table debate is long-standing and on-going.

The tables you choose affect your decor, your guests, and the overall vibe of your wedding. Neither is particularly better than the other, however, it is true that certain shapes go better with certain venues.

Nevertheless, no matter what, the choice is yours. If you’re still on the fence about the shape of your tables, you may want to keep some of these pros and cons in mind as you decide.

    – Banquet Tables

These are usually better for narrow, long rooms.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B7xTYOMKEmV/

    Pros:

Good for when you’re short on space

Since you can fit more people at a longer table, you’ll need fewer tables. This will save a lot of space and will ensure that the venue does not look overcrowded.

Could lower cost of decor and linen

As less tables are needed, less linen is needed too. The same goes for table decorations. If you’re decorating with florals, for example, you wouldn’t need as many.

    Cons:

    Guest conversation might die down

Longer tables means that guests are confined to conversations with the people in their immediate vicinity. A round table allows for a group conversation, whereas a longer, rectangular table usually only allows for guest to chat to those next to them and directly opposite them.

    Moving around is more difficult

For those sitting towards the middle, getting up from the table may be an issue. If you’re having a buffet (where guests will have to get up for food) you’ll have a traffic jam on your hands too as there will be many people up at once.

    – Round Tables

These are generally better for irregularly shaped rooms.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Pb7FjB9hK/

    Pros:

    – Great for conversations

As mentioned above, a round table allows for a group conversation. This is much less pressure for the guests than the situation at a banquet table.

    – Most venues offer more than one variation

Since it was quite popular in years gone by, most weddings have more than one option of round-style seating for you to choose from. Variety is always good!

    Cons:

    – Not as modern

Banquet tables offer a modern, sleek look that round tables don’t. Round tables also are less effective in photographs than banquet tables are.

    – A centrepiece can complicate conversation

You’ll have to think a bit harder about your centrepieces because they may block guests views of one another!

    – Best of both

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B8KJoELCATq/

If you have more than enough space, and you really can’t decide on a table shape, you could always find a way to incorporate both!

‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue’. The age old Victorian era saying still holds weight today with many couples who opt to incorporate it into their big day.

Representing the sky and the ocean, blue is symbolic of freedom, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Its a gentle hue that offers calming properties. ‘Cool blue’ is also the Pantone colour of the year, and its already popping up everywhere. Stay on trend by incorporating this colour into your wedding decor. Here are some ideas to inspire you:

Sitting down for a meal with your loved ones is always special, and your wedding day should be no different. Embrace the intimacy with beautiful banquet tables.

Whether you’re hosting a small or large event, banquet tables are easy and stylish options to seat your guests. These rectangular tables run the length of the room, drawing your eyes ahead and making the space seem larger than in is. While it may seem intimidating, this table shape is incredibly easy to decorate. Depending on your wedding style, you can adorn your table with lush greenery, dried botanicals or rows of candles and glasswear.

Some couples go all out with wedding themes, like this pair who had a Harry Potter themed wedding. Others prefer to keep the themes mellow and low-key, opting for ideas such as “rustic” or “vintage”.

Wedding themes were, in the past, one of the most important decisions to make about your wedding. These days, its really more of a personal preference; whether you have a theme is neither here nor there.

The draw towards a themed wedding, in general, is the idea of personalising an event that is quite common. For this reason, some may consider a wedding theme imperative. But, in the end, it’s not necessary.

In fact, choosing to forgo a wedding theme completely may make your life a whole lot easier. A theme limits your options with regards to food, drinks and decor. Having no theme means you can have whatever you want without worrying if it fits with the theme. This connects to the next reason why themed weddings complicate your life.

Having a theme also means you have to connect all aspects of your wedding to this theme. More often than not, this will take much more time and planning than a regular wedding and can end up costing much more money.

Guests, usually, have trouble with a themed wedding. Their outfits need more planning and they may have to purchase entirely new items just for your event. For many, this puts them off from attending the wedding at all.

Instead of going for a full on wedding theme, you could opt to centre your wedding – including food, decor and drinks – around two or three colours. This is much easier and always looks classy.

Ever loved something so much you made it your wedding theme? This couple did. Their love of the musical The Greatest Showman was so great, they just knew they had to incorporate it into their big day.

Julia and Kurtis Moellmann from Orlando, Florida are both huge fans of the circus. So much so that the pair, both of whom work at Ripley Entertainment Inc. knew it had to be a part of their wedding

“Kurtis and I grew up loving the circus,” Julia told Business Insider. “I used to take my mother — who had recently passed away suddenly due to brain cancer — to the circus every Mother’s Day.”

“It describes our lives, our current jobs, and what we both love,” she explains their love of the circus. “When we’re not at work, we’re at a local circus or searching for oddities that might be found in a circus sideshow.”

A year before their wedding, the couple watched The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Zendaya. They fell in love with the musical, rewatching it over and over again. The film’s aesthetic matched perfectly with their personalities, so they decided to recreate it for their big day.

Their barn-like wedding venue was transformed into a circus tent with draping red and white fabrics hung from the ceiling.

To go with the theme, carnival snacks like popcorn and snow cones were on offer, as well as food stands featuring burgers, pizza, chicken, fries, and funnel cake.

“We had freak-show posters, circus photo ops, and everyone was given a clown nose at their place setting,” Julia adds. The pair even had a miniature horse to pose with them for photos.

Their guests loved this unique take on a wedding.

“Kurtis and I aren’t your average white dress, church wedding people, so it was a nice break for everyone overall,” Julia explains. “You can only eat so many badly cooked steaks and watch couples frolic down a church aisle so many times without falling asleep,” she said of traditional weddings.

Decor trends come and go, but some things always stay the same: Class never gets old. While a huge trend right now is going green by being more environmentally friendly as well as bringing plants and nature into the decor, many brides like to fuse it with something sparkly here or there. So, an easy option is to turn to the table decor for a hint of gold and using metals and glass that can, of course, be repurposed after the wedding.

All tones of gold, champagne and rustic hues mixed with clear glass pieces will have a striking, glamorous effect. The best part is, these colours go well with almost any other main colour scheme so it won’t be overpowering if you choose to pair it with another colour. Here is some of our favourite decor inspiration.

Flowers don’t only have to be displayed in centre pieces and bouquets. Get creative and go high with floral chandeliers. A popular trend that has been blooming in the wedding industry over the last few years is the floral chandelier.

Floral chandeliers give your wedding an ethereal and fresh feel that is perfect for a summer wedding. They’re also a great way to add another visual element to your wedding that is unexpected.
