Amid the coronavirus pandemic, people the world over are being forced to change their plans. A number of celebrities like Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Princess Beatrice and fiance Edoardo, and Emma Stone and fiance Dave McCary have had to either postpone or cancel their big day.
While Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriquez have always been vague about their wedding since they got engaged in March 2019, they have announced that they are re-evaluating their plans. With the uncertainty of the current time, the couple has planned out various scenarios of how their big day can go forward.
“We had a meeting on Zoom with our core group of people,” Rodriguez told Entertainment Tonight. “Kind of just going over what the next 12 months look like and we have three or four different variations of how that can look. It’s such a fluid world. Usually when you underwrite a year – whether in terms of scheduling or financially – you never think that it’s going to just stop like this. So, we’re having to be very fluid, think on our feet and just think very proactively.
“At the same time, I think the most important thing for everybody is to practice great discipline and stay at home. We have to do this together and every person counts. The way we’re going to beat this thing is together,” he added.
Queen Elizabeth turned 94 yesterday, 21 April. Traditionally, her birthday is officially celebrated in June every year. The magnificent celebration, referred to as the ‘Trooping the Colour’, is an enormous feast and was due to take place on 13 June this year. This year, however, Buckingham Palace have announced that the event will not go ahead due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In honour of the royal icon’s birthday, we take a look at her and her husband, Prince Philp’s remarkable love story.
The two got married on 20 November, 1947 at Westminster Abbey, meaning this year they will celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary!

They met at a royal wedding when Queen Elizabeth was just eight years old. They fell in love after a second encounter when she was 13 and he 18, and began exchanging letters. In 1946, Philip asked King George VI for his daughter’s hand in marriage. The rest, as they say, is history.
The wedding did not go without incident, however. Elizabeth’s tiara snapped on the morning of the wedding, and Philip was stopped for speeding through central London on the day of the rehearsal dinner (19 November). He reportedly said at the time: “I’m sorry officer, but I’ve got an appointment with the Archbishop of Canterbury.”
When she was just 25, Elizabeth’s ascended the throne on 2 June 1953 after her father’s death. Prince Philip was the first to swear allegiance to the new queen, describing himself as her “liege man of life and limb”.
The two have been by each other’s side for many years now, and are a beautiful example of a strong and steadfast marriage. “He has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years,” said Queen Elizabeth II as she described her husband on their golden anniversary in 1997.

Their marriage is the longest of any British rulers ever, and we wish them many more happy years to come and the Queen a happy birthday.
The man, the myth, the legend – Nicolas Cage is a Hollywood icon for reasons far beyond his acting abilities. His meme-able face and unique film choices have cemented him in pop culture as a truly memorable character.
One aspect of Cage very few have turned to? His love life. Nicolas Cage has actually been married a whopping 4 times. Let’s take a look at his past relationships.
Patricia Arquette:

The story of how Cage and Arquette met is a wild ride. Back in the late 80s, Cage and fellow actor Crispin Glover met Arquette at a deli in Los Angeles. Both of them told her they wanted to marry her, naturally.
To prove himself and his commitment, Cage tasked Arquette with creating a list of tasks for him to complete. Arquette had quite a bit of fun with the list, selecting seemingly impossible finds like J.D. Salinger’s autograph (a rare occurrence throughout his career), a black orchid (which doesn’t exist), a Lisu tribe wedding costume, and a Bob’s Big Boy statue.
Instead of a black orchid, Cage showed up at Arquette’s home and spraypainted a purple one black. “She wouldn’t come out, but I could see her peeking down from the top floor. In my very showy way, I whipped the orchid out of my pocket. Then I whipped out the paint can and started spray-painting the orchid black. She was freaked out. I rang the doorbell again and she came down. I just gave it to her and got back on my motorcycle and left,” he told Playboy in ’96.
Cage’s intensity made Arquette wary and the relationship fizzled out. Years later in 1995, the pair met again at the exact same deli. It was love at first sight again, and Arquette quickly proposed while dressed head to toe in black vinyl, carrying a big purple wedding cake. Two weeks later, they married atop a cliff in Carmel, California with only Carmel’s former police chief and a pod of sea otters as their witnesses. Seriously.
However, the marriage was not meant to be. The pair officially split in 2000 after 5 years.

Soon after his split from Arquette, Cage began dating Elvis’s daughter Lisa Marie Presley in 2000. Presley had just come out of her marriage to Michael Jackson. They married in August 2002 after two years of dating. However, by November 2002, a mere 3 and half months later, they filed for divorce.
Presley explains that the pair were kindred spirits but they were like “tyrannical pirates”, which caused the end of their marriage.
“It was kind of one of those things where you marry someone hoping — I mean we’d already had — we’d been together for two years before we got married, so — it was one of those things where you’re marrying hoping that you’re going to either stabilise it or it’s going to, you know, accentuate all that was going on prior to what was problematic,” she said in an interview with Larry King. “So it kind of did the latter, that’s all.”

In 2004, Cage walked down the aisle yet again, this time with a fan of his. He married waitress Alice Kim two months after meeting her at the restaurant she worked at. The pair were married for 11 years and share a son together. They divorced in 2016.
Erika Koike:

The shortest marriage Cage had was also his last. He wed makeup artist Erika Koike in Las Vegas in 2019 after a year of dating but filed for annulment after 4 days. He claimed that he was too drunk to comprehend that they were getting married, and was also unaware of Koike’s criminal history. The makeup artist has appeared in court for three DUI’s and domestic violence against her previous husband.
Almost everyone dreams of having their favourite musician peform at their wedding. However, the chances of this are usually extremely slim. Now more than ever, a celebrity appearance at a wedding is one of the least expected things that could happen.
This lucky couple, however, were one in a million. Hayley Pitman, a NHS nurse, and Harvey Skelton were forced to postpone their wedding like many others across the world. They decided they would hold their ceremony on Zoom, a very popular trend these days.
Their online wedding organisers, For Better For Worse, organised a little surprise for them. A performance by Ellie Goulding was on the cards and the couple had no idea.
Tammy Madge from For Better For Worse said to Metro UK: “It was really difficult to see so many couples having to postpone their weddings after spending months or even years saving and planning for their special day.”
“To help bring a smile back to a special couple’s face, we took it upon ourselves to organise a virtual wedding. With such close ties to the NHS, Hayley and Harvey were the perfect choice for us, and of course Ellie Goulding surprising the couple made it so much more special and beautifully emotional even if we were all sat behind our screens! We hope that people will get on-board by donating to our fundraiser page, to show how appreciated our amazing NHS is, especially during this unprecedented time,” she added.
After the ceremony and the kiss, Ellie Goulding appeared on screen and said “Congratulations Harvey and Hayley, you’re both heroes and we all love you.”
They had their first dance to an acoustic version of the pop star’s hit ‘Love Me Like You Do’.
Amid all the confusion the coronavirus pandemic has caused, many weddings have fallen victim. Turns out not even the royals are above the pandemic, as it was recently announced that Princess Beatrice and her Edoardo, who were all set to get married 29 May, have cancelled their wedding completely.
A representative for the pair told People magazine: “There are no plans to switch venues or hold a bigger wedding. They aren’t even thinking about their wedding at this time. There will come a time to rearrange, but that’s not yet.”
Beatrice and Edoardo were due to marry at St. James’s Palace in London, with a reception to follow at her grandmother Queen Elizabeth’s gardens at Buckingham Palace.
The two seem to be in love as ever though and are sure to get married in the far future when things return to normal.
Beatrice’s mother Sarah Ferguson recently said: “[Beatrice is] the happiest I have ever seen her in my life. She and Edo have a great love for each other and passion for life. For them to be getting married fills my heart with joy.”
Vanessa Bryant is remembering her late husband Kobe, a few months after his tragic passing. Bryant took to Instagram to write a tribute to her late husband on their 19th wedding anniversary.
“My king, my heart, my best friend. Happy 19th wedding anniversary baby. I miss you so much. I wish you were here to hold me in your arms. I love you. ❤️” she wrote.
Celebrities, they’re fickle beings. While some famous pairings were built to last despite the Hollywood machine, others don’t make it that long.
We’ve seen quite a few interesting celebrity marriages over the years. Similarly, there are a few that are shocking to hear about. Here are a few celebrity marriages from yesteryear you might be surprised by.
Richard Gere & Cindy Crawford
A Hollywood romance for the ages, it seemed like a match made in heaven when screen icon Richard Gere and rising supermodel Cindy Crawford linked up in 1988. Crawford was 22 at the time, and Gere 39-years-old. On a whim, they tied the knot in 1991 at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas. However, the marriage only lasted for four years and the pair ended things in 1995. Years later, Crawford would explain their age gap as the main reason for their split.

Renée Zellweger & Kenny Chesney
Actress Renee Zellwegger and country musician Kenny Chesney surprised the world when they tied the knot back in 2005 after a short 5-month romance. Unfortunately, the romance was not meant to be. Four months later, the pair split, weirdly citing ‘fraud’ as the reason for divorce.

Kim Kardashian & Damon Thomas
While her marriages to basketball player Kris Humphries and rapper Kanye West have received much coverage, many often forget that Kim Kardashian has actually been married three times. Back in 2000, a 19-year-old Kim said ‘I do’ to her first husband, music producer Damon Thomas. Thomas was reportedly mentally and physically abusive, and caused a rift between Kim Kardashian and her family. The pair split in 2004.

Nicolas Cage & Patricia Arquette
When actors Cage and Arquette met at a deli back in the late 80s, he asked her to create a list of ways he could prove his dedication and worthiness to her. The seemingly-impossible list included J.D. Salinger’s rare autograph and a black orchid, which Cage set off to complete. His intensity scared Arquette, and it wasn’t until 1995 that they met at the same deli by chance and wed two weeks later atop a cliff in California. 9 months into the marriage they called it quits, although it took until 2000 for the divorce to be finalised.

Jennifer Garner & Scott Foley
Before he played Jake Ballard on Scandal, Scott Foley was more well-known for his role in popular TV show Felicity. He met future wife Jennifer Garner (before she hit it big) when she guest-starred as a love interest for his character back in 1998 and they fell in love. They tied the knot in 2000 but split in 2003. Many argue that Garner’s career-defining role in Alias catapaulted her stardom and put strain on the relationship.

Pamela Anderson and Kidd Rock
The Baywatch star met Kidd Rock in 2001, they fell in love and got engaged in 2002 but then broke up. They then got back together and married in 2006 during a symbolic ceremony on a yacht, for which she famously wore a white bikini and sailors hat. Unfortunately, the marriage was not meant to be. The pair split in 2007. In an interview, Borat actor Sacha Baron Cohen claims Anderson’s appearance in the 2006 comedy film contributed to strain in her marriage and led to their divorce.

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johannson
Now married to Blake Lively, it’s easy to forget that Ryan Reynolds once had a very different starlet wife. Reynolds and Scarlet Johannson were fiercely private about their relationship, and little is known about how and when they met. They secretly married in 2007, although there are no public photos of their union. The pair divorced in 2010. Johannson has since explained that she was very young when they tied the knot, and romanticised marriage but was unprepared for the reality of it.

Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Esposito
It’s hard to believe that there was once a time that Bradley Cooper was the lesser-known partner in a relationship. Back in 2006, before The Hangover made him a household name, the actor was married to actress Jennifer Esposito, who was relishing in fame after winning an Oscar for her role in Crash. However, they filed for divorce in 2007 after 4 months of marriage, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.
Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are donating the profits from their royal wedding broadcast to help feed hungry families amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The royal couple will donate $112,000 (R208,4219) to Feeding Britain, an organisation aimed at alleviating hunger.
According to a spokesperson for the couple, Harry and Meghan have visited the organisation before and have been moved by their work.
“The Duke and Duchess were able to speak to The Archbishop [of Canterbury] recently, and were moved to hear all about the work Feeding Britain was doing to support people during Covid-19,” the spokesman said.
Bindi Irwin has revealed the wedding gift A-list actor Russell Crowe gifted to her and husband Chandler Powell.
After the newlyweds tied the knot on March 25, Crowe sent the couple a stunning fig tree. Crowe, a fellow Australian, has reportedly been a longtime friend to the Irwin family.
Taking to Instagram, Irwin thanked Crowe for the gift and also wished him a happy birthday.
“Happy Birthday, @russellcrowe ?, ” Irwin wrote on Instagram. “You’ll always be part of our family. Even though we can’t see you right now, we’re giving the beautiful fig you gifted us a hug and thinking of you.
Hope your day is extraordinary.”
Love conquers all, even a world wide pandemic, self-isolation, and quarantines. “The Real” presenter Jeannie Mai and rapper Jeezy (Jay Jenkins) are proving it with their engagement in the time of the coronavirus.
Mai took to instagram on April 7 to officially announce their engagement and share her good news. “I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life loving you….YES,” she said in her caption.
“Thank you, everyone, for celebrating this journey with us. We are praying love over everyone from here,” she added.

The couple have been together since November 2018, but only made their relationship public last year.
People reported that Jenkins proposed at their “quarantine date night” in his Los Angeles home. Mai’s rep told People that Jenkins planned to propose on their trip to Vietnam in April this year. However, due to travel restrictions and self-isolation orders on account of the coronavirus, Jenkins had to come up with a new plan.
“Instead, Jay decided to bring Vietman to Jeannie with a surprise quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor,” said Mai’s rep.
Of course, people are tremendously happy for them and congratulations flooded in on her Instagram post. Co-hosts at The Real were also ecstatic for Mai. The Real congratuated Mai on their Instagram page too, posting a picture of the happy couple.
“OUR HEARTS, HUNNAY!!!” they said. “Screaming all the contratulatory wishes from the rooftops for our very own @TheJeannieMai and her new FIANCE. @Jeezy!!!! We are so thrilled and over the moon for the both of you.”
