Dineo met Solo eight years ago through a mutual friend, Leroy. He had set them up to a blind date anaware to them, but luckily it was love at first sight. Solo asked for her phone number and texted her on the same day. They later went out for dinner that very same day and have been together since.

On their Showmax wedding series, Kwakuhle kwethu, Dineo admitted to having a huge crush on him and could not wait longer than five minutes to text him back.

Solo took to social media to explain how he proposed to Dineo. They were on a holiday in Mozambique in January 2019 and he has already planned to propose. He explained how a person might think it would be easy to propose to their best friend, but it was nerve-wracking for him.

The couple tied the knot on May 11, 2019 at the Kitchen L’antico Giardiono in Johannesburg. They had a secret ceremony where they changed outfits twice, and guests could only post pictures of themselves and not the wedding itself. They later gave us the Kwakuhle kwethu series showcasing their wedding.

Congratulations are in order for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Lauren Hashian! The pair recently celebrated their very first wedding anniversary, and Johnson had beautiful words to say about his wife.

Johnson shared a stunning video from their 2019 wedding in Hawaii, set to a song called ‘Step Into A Love Like This’ that Hashian wrote and performed on their wedding day. In an emotional Instagram post, he calls Hashian the “mate to my soul”.

    https://www.instagram.com/tv/CECw0edlQd7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

“Lauren is a gifted and soulful songwriter who wrote every single word of this song (and her vows) to reflect our life and blessings on our wedding day,” Johnson gushed in the post caption.

“I’m not a writer, so all I can do is speak from my heart and gut — and other than my three daughters being born — this is the greatest gift I’ve ever received. Bottom line, I’m a lucky and grateful husband, father and man to have such an amazing woman by my side through this unpredictable, yet beautiful thing we call life.”

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CECMNSpJrbu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

In her own Instagram post, Hashian describes the song as “the most personal and rewarding song I’ve ever written. Personal because every word is from the heart, and rewarding because one year ago today on our wedding day August 18, 2019, I was able to share this song with my man I now call my husband in front of our little girls and our family & friends.”

“It was an honor and a gift to reflect on our life and love then and I truly can’t believe the things that we’ve been able to share in our lifetime. Today I want to say Happy Anniversary to you my love :), with a heart FULL of absolute gratitude @therock and a soul full of love. One year down baby and 52 more to go!”

The song is now available on all streaming platforms.

Time is time, no matter what. A minute is still 60 seconds and a day 24 hours. While this is a given, the act of time-telling is much greater than a quick glance at a dial. A watch is more than just an accessory. This functional and fashional item speaks of its wearer and how they’d like the world to see them.

Finding your perfect watch is much like finding your perfect partner: it takes time. You might have to try on different types and many won’t fit or feel right to you.

To help your wrist pick its perfect companion, we’ve made things a little easier. There are four four key watch aesthetics, each one with its own story to tell. We’ve paired up these personalities with our favourite Rosefield watches to bring this romance to life.

    The Classic:

Classics are classics for a reason: this timeless style defies the ages. The classic watch wearer, like the accessory style, is sturdy and durable. Put her in hot water and she’ll rise to the occasion. There is something so endearing about a woman who needs no fuss, no frills because she knows its her strength and character that keeps people coming back.

Inspired by an iconic NYC neighbourhood and caught between boho-chic and classic, Rosefield’s Bowery collection is perfect for this aesthetic. The collection combines a minimalist, ultra-thin watch case with elegantly stitched leather straps. Style without the drama, for the uncomplicated woman.

    The Minimalist:

Sleek, chic and modern, the minimalist style grips viewers without screaming for attention. Minimalism, to its core, is about finding purpose. By stripping back on adornments and distractions, you can live with intention. The woman who follows this lifestyle is bold and assertive. She has no time for irrelevant factors, because her eyes are on the prize.

Rosefield’s Gramercy collection is all about combining a simple watch face with clean-cut leather straps to create a modern and alluring fashion accessory. The elegance and sleekness of the watch speaks for itself, without frills and fancies. It makes a statement without even speaking, perfect for the woman whose presence commands attention.

    Quirky:

Time may be straightforward but this wearer is anything but. The quirky woman is not afraid to take a risk. She is rebellious and confident, odd yet lovable. Life is an adventure and this curious woman wants to tackle it head on.

If you march to the beat of your own drum, you need a watch to keep up the pace. Rosefield’s West Village Collection is inspired by the iconic and traditionally rebellious neighborhood of the West Village, a nonchalant area with European flair. The slender watch has stand out details like the delicate metal rings decorating the strap. The rings vary by strap colour, and ampify the vintage-chic character of its wearer.

Rosefield watches are available at Sterns and American Swiss Jewellery stores.

The story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono has captured the attention of many over time. Their relationship was hotly debated since they began their courtship while The Beatles star was still wed to another woman. Nevertheless, their marriage is an enduring image of 20th-century popular culture. We take a look back at their nuptials.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B9-tGkJhu8n/

Most Beatles fans know a bit about the story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s wedding. After all, Lennon sang of it in his song “The Ballad of John and Yoko”, which he recorded with fellow Beatle, Paul McCartney, on April 14, 1969.

    The lyrics go like this:

“Finally made the plane into Paris
    Honeymooning down by the Seine
    Peter Brown called to say
    You can make it OK
You can get married in Gibraltar near Spain”

Ono met Lennon in November 1966, as she prepared to open her art exhibit called Unfinished Paintings and Objects, which was held at the Indica Gallery, in the basement of the Indica Bookshop in London. According to Lennon, they fell in love on that day.

After their initial meeting, they kept in touch for months, and eventually became an inseparable couple and a force to be reckoned with. However, when Lennon and Ono began their courtship, the singer was still married to his first wife, Cynthia Lennon. Cynthia filed for divorce in August 1968, and by March 20, 1969 Lennon would be remarried to Ono.

Initially, the pair wanted to marry in the most romantic way they could think of – on a train to Paris.

“We wanted to get married on a cross-channel ferry. That was the romantic part,” Lennon said in The Beatles’ Anthology documentary. “We went to Southampton and then we couldn’t get on because she wasn’t English, and she couldn’t get the day visa to go across. They said, ‘Anyway, you can’t get married. The captain’s not allowed to do it any more.'”

After that plan failed, they tried many others, and eventually settled on Gibraltar, a location suggested by their friend Peter Brown.

“We chose Gibraltar because it is quiet, British and friendly. We tried everywhere else first. I set out to get married on the car ferry and we would have arrived in France married, but they wouldn’t do it. We were no more successful with cruise ships. We tried embassies, but three weeks’ residence in Germany or two weeks’ in France were required,” Lennon once explained.

The pair chartered a plane to Gibraltar and married on March 20, 1969 (about a week after bandmate Paul McCartney wedded Linda Eastman), in a 10-minute ceremony at the British Consulate Office.

The bride wore a white, tiered miniskirt and top, small floppy hat, knee-high socks, plimsolls, and round, black sunglasses, and the groom donned a white high-neck top, a blazer, and jacket.

After the wedding, came the honeymoon, which has gone down in history as one of the most famous honeymoons of all time.

For their honeymoon, the pair planned a “bed-in” for peace for the week of March 25 – 31, at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel. The event was covered by a variety of international media outlets.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CBWbYB6lFNm/

“We decided that if we were going to do anything like get married that we would dedicate it to peace,” Lennon told Rolling Stone in 1971. “And during that period, because we are what we are, it evolved that somehow we ended up being responsible to produce peace.”

“I was very aware that we were ruining each other’s careers and I was hated and John was hated because of me. We did everything together and we did everything publicly together. The Bed-In was our work for peace but we weren’t liked for it,” Ono shared with The Telegraph.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CAo4UyYgAl8/

Seven months after their wedding, the pair released their album titled “Wedding Album”, and it was quite odd. The first side, called “John and Yoko” features a 22-minute long recording in which they pair say each others names, against the backtrack of a beating heart. They purr, wail, and coo, saying each others names in silly ways.

Escort cards are an adorable way to continue your wedding theme and personalise your wedding seating. They are the informal sister of place cards, and direct guests to a table rather than a seat.

The joy of escort cards is that in many cases, they can easily be DIY’ed and can also double as a wedding favour, depending what you go with. Either way, your guests can take them home and will always remember your big day.

This fun design element allows brides and grooms to get creative and expand their theme. For example, Christmas ornaments work perfectly for December weddings, while mini marble tiles are elegant and sophisticated.

We’ve gathered some fun, unique ideas for escort cards that fit a variety of themes, from quirky to botanical to glam. Take a look below:

Survivor is a game of trickery, deception, and lies. As their slogan says, competitors have to “outwit, outlast, outplay” each other. Participants join the competition in the hopes of becoming the sole survivor and winning a million dollars, but some have come out of the game having won love.

Castaways, as the game calls its participants, are sent to an island to partake in various challenges while they fend for themselves in the wild. Each episode, a player gets voted off the island by other tribe members.

One might think this is not a situation that is friendly to a blooming love since everybody is fighting to be the last one standing through manipulating and outwitting their competitors. However, love has blossomed several times on the popular show.

Here are some of the couples who fell in love in the jungle:

    Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich

Probably the most well-known survivor couple, Rob Mariano (better known as Boston Rob) and Amber Brkich met in 2003 on Survivor: All-Stars. Their love was apparent on the show, and only a year later, in 2004, they got engaged. In 2005 the pair married and have been together ever since. They now have 4 daughters together. Their love for each other, and for Survivor, was so strong that they both returned for another season of Survivor (season 40).

    Rachel Foulger and Tyson Apostol

The pair met on Survivor: Blood vs. Water, which Apostol actually won, meaning he outwitted and outlasted his future wife. The couple tied the knot in 2015 and now have two daughters together.

    Erik Huffman and Jaime Dugan-Huffman

These two competed on Survivor: China. They met on the show in 2007, and two years later were married. They now share a son together.

Joe Anglim and Sierra Dawn Thomas

Meeting in 2014 on Survivor: Worlds Apart, it wasn’t love at first sight for this couple. It was only a few years later that they started dating, and announced their engagement on April 9, 2019. They tied the knot in the same year.

    Whitney Duncan and Keith Tollefson

It was an instant love connection for Whitney and Keith, who met on Survivor: South Pacific in 2011. After their Survivor adventure, the pair took on The Amazing Race, another reality game show, and tied the knot in 2014.

For many brides, the finishing touch to perfect their wedding look is a tiara. Bridal tiaras add regal glamour and elegance to your look, as well as a touch of whimsy.

Tiara’s or crowns are also known as diadems, which comes from the Greek word ‘diadein’ meaning ‘to bind around’. Historically, royal families from the ancient Egyptians to the the Ancient Greeks love this accessory as a symbol of power and status. Traditionally, they were worn by royalty but nowadays anyone can rock this look.

Interestingly enough, there are ways to properly wear a tiara. If you plan to top your tresses with this accessory, keep these tips in mind.

Consider the shape of your face

If you have a long face, you might want to steer clear of especially pointy tiaras that can add even more length. If you have a round face, a round tiara will make your head look even more circular. The best course of action is to choose a tiara that is different to your face shape.

Regardless of the shape of your face, make sure to opt for a tiara with an oval frame so that it sits more comfortably on your head. Ideally, the front of the tiara should slightly lean forward as this will help frame your face.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B46H2–n-bp/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

    Placement matters

When putting your crown on, be conscious of where you place it and use your fingers as a guide. To find your best placement, put your thumb on the centre of your chin and your index finger in between your eyebrows. Maintain that distance, then move your thumb to where your index finger was placed. Your index finger should now be a few centimetres from your hairline, marking the spot where the base of your tiara should be.

The centre of the jewel work on the crown must align with the centre of your face.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/CCJv5pflDgf/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

    Stay with me

Don’t put your tiara on until your hair is completely styled, especially if you are adding any gels or lacquers to your hair. If you put your tiara on before this, you run the risk of making it greasy.

Another rule of thumb is to wear your tiara with day old hair, ideally without conditioner, as this provides more grip to keep it in place all day. You might even need to use clear thread to sow your tiara into your bridal style if you plan on any activities like a choreographed dance.

Remember to not attach your veil to your headpiece, as it could add more weight and cause your tiara to drag out of place. Instead, attach your veil to you actual hair.

There is a story in Maori folklore that tells of a great love that had been planted by the ancestors, Hinemoa and Tutanekai, on the Island of Mokoia. Their endless, amazing love is accepted as one of the greatest love stories ever told, and the tale is passed down from one generation to the next.

Today, this love is evidenced in their traditional weddings, which they are performed with a blessing from a priest (Maori Tohunga) and their sacred ancestry Takitimu Canoe.

It is interesting to note that before they were colonised, the Maori people did not have a marriage ceremony for low-ranking tribe members. However,  hapū (clan) and whānau (extended family) were required to approve unions. Maori marriage became legally recognised in 1909.

Despite its history, Maori weddings have quite a few traditions. Here are some of them:

    The Welcome Call (Te Karanga)

Just before the couple enters the Maori Village or the wedding location, a traditional welcome call echoes across the courtyard. Its purpose is to invite the bride and groom onto the sacred land.

There are only a few locations where Maori weddings are allowed to take place, traditionally. Included in the list of locations is Mokoia Island, Tamaki Village, Pohutu Geyser, Aorangi Peak, Four Canoes, and Fairy Springs, according to Weddings Guide.

    Song and Dance (Te Powhiri)

Once they enter the location, a local tribe will perform a traditional song and dance for the bridal party.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B3y5t14pc3a/

This is followed by a practice called the Hongi, or the touching of the nose. It is a gesture that indicates goodwill and friendship between parties, according to Maori Weddings.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/zVp-CQiaEr/

Wedding ceremony and Vows (Te Marena)

There are two different ways the ceremony and vows are reported to take place.

In the first instance, the priest commences the ceremony and the couple exchange vows, after which they are serenaded with a love song called “Pokarekare ana”.

In the second instance, the ceremony (called the Korowai Ceremony) is performed, and it is followed by a romantic gesture in which the husband places a Korowai (cloak of love) around his new wife. This is said to symbolise how his love will surround her for the rest of their lives.

    Priest Blessing (Te Manaakitanga)

Thereafter, a priest blesses the couple, and people give Toanga (gifts) to the couple. Finally, the ceremony is closed with Hongi.

According to Weddings Guide, the Maori people believe that when God created humans, he breathed life into their nostrils. When Maori couples perform Hongi they unite their breaths of life as one.

    Departure (Te Haere Atu)

The bridal party are sent off with a traditional song and dance.

    Feast and Celebrations (Te Hakari)

In celebration of the special day, they organise a night of food and entertainment. They have a Hangi feast (a traditional Māori meal is essentially a feast cooked in an earth oven for several hours) and the Maori tribe honours the bride and groom. Festivities continue until late into the night.
